This is Fuji, My 1yr old Silver Pheonix roo. He is so handsome!! We decided to have a photo shoot today, since I was already messing with his spurs. He was a good boy, and seemed to enjoy the lime-light!

You always have some of the most beautiful chickens(along with your ducks)!

all Roosters have natural spurs. These spurs need to be trimmed occasionally, so they dont hurt the hens while mating. Fuji, has two spurs on one leg, so he gets extra attention, for fear of the one spur curling back into his leg.

Oh I see.I know nothing about roosters lol. He's really pretty though. Does the red fleshy part of his face on top and bottom serve a purpose, like for mating or anything...to attract a female?

The top part is called the comb, and the bottom two are called Wattles, both males and females have them, The males are larger than the females. The Comb and wattles is what keeps the birds cool during hot weather.Originally Posted by luckies4me
