Getting 2 foster dogs at my house tomorrow!!!

I am so excited for tomorrow afternoon. Ever since we adopted our puppy Molly through a local rescue group, my fiance and I have said that we'd like to volunteer as a foster home for them once settled into our new house. Now that our fence is installed, we're going to do just that

Tomorrow, we are getting 2 foster dogs dropped off at our home. One of them is a 1 yr old black lab mix named Irish, who will be with us until we find him a wonderful forever home. The other one is a very special little girl named Emma - Emma is a little beagle puppy who was found a month or so back by a fisherman - she was bleeding to death in a ditch. Someone shot her twice in the back and left her there to die. I don't know how people can be so cruel. So, the rescue group rallied funds to save Emma's life, and the vets were able to! Her back legs are paralyzed, so they've purchased her a little scooter/wheelchair which we'll be introducing her to tomorrow. Emma is with us until Thursday - when he new Mom is picking her up! Yay! Then, on Saturday, ANOTHER foster dog is coming here - his name is Rocky and he is a 1 yr old Shepherd/Lab mix, who looks a lot like my Molly. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw his picture, and my secret plan is to try to convince my fiance that we should keep him. But Shhhh

Here are some pictures of the dogs - I will be taking a ton more tomorrow once Irish and Emma arrive. Oh, and if anyone is in the Massachusetts general area and knows of anyone who would like to adopt a 1 yr old black lab, let me know!

Gee what an interesting week you are heaing in to!

Be cautious with the fosters around Maxiumus. They may a year old and may not have encountered a cat as a roomie before!

    Best wishes to all!

Yeah, we're definitely going to keep a close eye on them around the cat. From what I understand, Irish has been around cats and really likes them - not sure about Emma and Rocky though.

That picture of Rocky made me crack up too, he looks so funny. It's definitely going to be chaotic here for the next few days, but that's ok

Emma and Irish are here! Emma is just heartbreaking, I can't believe someone would do this to such a sweet little dog. We've put Emma in her scooter and she seems like she's an old pro at it! She even ran across the room in the scooter, chasing my Lab

Irish I think has to be 1/2 lab, 1/2 greyhound. He's gorgeous, and incredibly fast, and has the gorgeous body of a greyhound. He definitely has no conception of how big he is, and likes to jump up on your chest while your sitting down. It's like getting hit with a 60 pound weight lol - we're already working on not jumping with him. He knows "sit" and "down" which is a good start.

We were busy trying to get Emma situated when we noticed that the 3 other dogs were really quiet in the other room....way too quiet. We went in to check on them and discovered that Irish had gotten his nose in a fast food bag and eaten not 1, but 2 orders of large french fries. I guess there's definitely some lab appetite in him. We'll have to keep that stuff out of his reach from now on.

Here are some pics of Emma trying out her new scooter!

It's going to be really tough to not keep Rocky here lol - Rocky was an owner surrender to a shelter, his owners brought him in and told the shelters employees that they couldn't keep him anymore because he was "too good at jumping their fence" and that "if he got into the neighbors yard again, the neighbors would shoot him" They said that he was a shepherd lab mix, but who knows - I just know he's damn cute!!

I can't even fathom giving one of my dogs up because the fence isn't high enough - it wouldn't even be a question, I'd just build a higher fence, or install an electric one.

I'd like about 15 minutes alone in a dark alley with whoever did this to Emma. Maybe 20.
