    Go to bed

Hubby has insisted that Tobey and Archie start sleeping by the side of the bed not on it

Started the process last night by keeping Archie on a lead which seems to settle him down completely. Is this because he feels that I am looking out for him so he knows he can relax?

Tobey is smaller so doesn't take up quite so much room and I am sure he will follow Archie's example

Yes, he doesn't realize you aren't holding the leash. he think she is "connected," and hence safe.

When I walk Sugar, if I drop the lead, she streaks home! (Did that once, now I tie it around my waist). When we first got her, we'd take her out in the fenced back yard on the leash. She would keep the lead taut. If t had a slack loop, she would whine, not sure if she was connected or on her own. Now of course, she trots out back on her own.

So what he is doing seems normal based on my experience!
