    HELP ME!!! (Tiger Salamander Emergancy!)

PLEASE HELP ME! Today I went to clean my tiger salamanders water. As I took him out I noticed a black absess on the skin around one of his eyes. I don't know if it is a bacterial infection, a fungus...I have no idea. It looks as though there might have been a small scratch but I can't be sure. Yesterday (valentines day) Here in Vermont we just received a record breaking snow storm (36" where I am), I'm burried in and can not make it to a vet for maybe a week. He isn't acting any different then normal which is a good thing but I don't want to risk his health. Please help me with anything you know, sites that can help me...anything! This is my baby O'ryan in the pictures with the black around his eye. The texture of the black is a little rough..almost like dry.

I looked around on google and such and used different frasings, but couldn't find ANYTHING!!! Might I suggest an emergency vet? Many comtact the vet at home. They might be able to help you over the phone until things clear up weather-wise.

    Hey,

I use to have a newt, but I don't guess they're much like salamanders--anyway can you maybe get your vets home #? Then call him at home. I know I would if my pet/dog was in danger!! Let us know what happens---he's cute by the way! Good luck....

I know what that is. That may be an infection. He/She may not live so do the following.

1 If you have other salamanders divide that one away from the others to prevent infection to spread.

2 If it doesn't eat try to feed it.

3 Keep tat salamander away from light to make sure if it is what I think it is it won't aggravate the pain.

4 If that opens up.... This is the tough part... You must put it out of it's misery.
