The numbers are out.. (I was shocked to see breeds that were lower in registrations than the Borzois)... The list is amazing and a real eye looker.. http://www.akc.org/reg/dogreg_stats.cfm

Racers and show greyhounds might as well be two different breeds. Racers are NGA reg'd and show greys are AKC reg'd. Dual registration is not uncommon because I remember seeing a gorgeous AKC hound who also raced as an NGA hound.Originally Posted by borzoimom
Personally, I'm glad Pekes dropped one this year. I feel bad for Yorkies, though. There's been a huge surge in popularity these past few years.
136 Greyhounds 134
they are on the list! LOL
however I am thrilled to see my rotties and the dobies sliding down the list, which is even better for them!

Labradors have been #1 for a long time, haven't they?
does anyone know the ranks in the UK?
thanks k9krazee for the signature!
That is an interesting article.
Now, they are getting their facts by the number of AKC registered dogs, correct? I don't know how they do that.
I love Fenway, JoJo, Olivia and Nonnie!
Yes- it is the number of each breed registered each year. You will see last years standing of 2005 to the right..Originally Posted by elizabethann
For the more popular breeds such as labs there are at least a hundred unregistered puppies born for every one that is registered. And that doesn't even count the lab crosses. It's no wonder we have a pet overpopulation problem!
Yet every one who breeds their beloved pet is absolutely convinced that they aren't doing anything wrong and certainly aren't the ones responsible for adding to the tragedy!![]()
