I did a BAD, BAD thing.

I will try and make this as short as I can. There is this guy, named Pierre, that lives at the end of my street who owns a dog. I have spoken to him a few times, mostly about our dogs. A friend of his found a orange male kitten about 4 months old and couldn't keep him so he gave it to Pierre. That was about 3 months ago. He asked me for advice since he knows I own cats. So I gave him the speech about getting his shots, having him neutered ASAP and to keep him inside especially since we live on a very busy street and also him living at the corner has to deal with a cross street. He told me he feels that cats should have the pleasure of being outdoors and doesn't believe in keeping them locked up in a house. Gave him a big speech again about the benefits of keeping your cat inside. Yada, yada, yada. Did it do any good.
Absolutely NOT!!!!! Then about 4 weeks ago, he finds another kitten about 3-4 months old, a female, on one of our busiest streets which is just one block around the corner from us. I was so upset everytime I would see his two cats outside from morning til night, tired of seeing them on the street and almost getting hit, tired of seeing how skinny they are because they are not getting the proper nutrition that they need to grow and tired of seeing them scratch because of fleas and how dirty they have become.
Soooooooooo last night while the hubby and I were walking Buddy, we see the female in the middle of the road cleaning herself. I was so upset that I started to cry. The hubby said, don't worry about it. YEAH RIGHT!!!! We had to go to the store to get some milk and when we came back she was sitting in the middle of the cross street. I called her and got her to follow us up the street. Then my hubby says to me, as we were close to home, pick her up and bring her home. I said, "REALLY", he said, "YUP".
So I did. She went right into a flea bath and has been in my room since.
I might already have a new home for her. A friend of mine just had her 19 year old female PTS 2 weeks ago and she might take her.
BTW, when we came out of the store, we saw Pierre walking his dog with another man and his dog and his male kitten was following them. So my hubby figured since he was not in the area, to get the female off the street.
One more thing, Pierre is a drinker and takes drugs. Everytime I have spoken with him, he has been high.

Now tell me, did I do a bad thing in making this guys kitty go "POOF"

    What the heck!

The suspense is killing me. Do you think she confiscated the kitten?

Oh, the original post has been edited! Yea. The kitty will most likely have a new home....

Now, to get that other kitty.....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Do you seriously think anyone on PT is going to think you did a bad thing? Of course you don't and of course we don't. When she doesn't turn up, Pierre will think she was hit by a car and say "that's the price of freedom"; I doubt he will even miss her.

Thank you, thank you, and thank your husband for taking this cat off the streets.

Lorraine, by all means you did a great thing. The only bad thing is if you didnt make her brother go *poof* too

Congrats on your first catnapping! LOL Know that you just changed her little life for the better.

Edit: I just saw the pictures, and she's lovely. No way is that princess a street kitty!

Yes Lizzie, I honestly did think that someone would say something negative about it as I have seen it before in other threads similiar to this. The person was told, that it wasn't right to take another persons cat.

Okay, now I understand what happened. Willy had stepped on my keyboard before I could finish typing and had to go back and edit to continue. Now I see why some of you were confused.

That happened to me yesterday/this morning. I feel asleep before turning off the computer in the bedroom where the kittens are isolated and walked in this morning to all kinds of wierd screen messages.

There has been one time when I had to listen to someone at work talk about taking a cat from her old boyfriend's house because she thought it wasn't been taken care of "correctly" and I certainly opposed her doing any such thing. But a cat who is basically living outside is pretty much a stray, at least that's what my vet said when I pinched my neighbor's cats, so you did the "right" thing even if you did a "naughty" thing.

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!! Now I am sooooooooooooooooo upset.

I just got a call from my friend Joan again and she said that she would feel very uncomfortable taking the cat from the guy. She said that if I could clear it with him first, then she would be okay with it. I can understand somewhat what she is saying, but like I told her. I personally don't feel that the guy really gives a damn. One time I had asked him, what if someone picked your kitten up off the street and took her home. He said, "Oh well. I just hope that they would treat her well." I also told her that in reality she is a stray as she is always outside and that he had found her himself on the street about a month ago. Also that she would be saving her life. But, she still wouldn't feel right doing it.

*Sigh* Now what do I do. Should I just go and ask the dopehead or what?

I would just try and find someone else and not tell them how you got the cat. He probaboly won't even miss the cat but I wouldn't take the chance by asking him.

What dopehead gives a reasonable response? Please keep her, or find her another home. In your place, I'd go on the offensive if Pierre calls. To the question "Have you seen my cat", respond "Why, what's happened to her? Has she gone mising? When did you last see her? Have you checked with the shelters? What if she's been hit. I told you to keep her inside."
