    Got the female betta...

Well, I did get the female betta...Only she seems to be ill. She was ill in the tank, and I felt bad for her. She was breathing through her gills so hard, and she was just looking so horrible I was almost crying. She looks so much like Lomasi also, so that made it even worse. Well, I did get her, and now she is in a Ziploc tupperware container, because when I put her into fresh water in my 2.5 gallon tank, she was still having problems. I was beginning to wonder if water pressure had anything to do with it, so I placed her in a more shallow container, and she is breathing more easily...I know, it wasn't the smart thing to do by getting her, but I couldn't turn away. I do have pics of her, and she does need a name!

She has purple "freckles" on her scales, so I was thinking maybe calling her Freckles, but I am not sure. Any other name suggestions?

Here is what she is being kept in right now:

Everything has been cleaned, and the water is crystal clear. She seems more relaxed and comfortable now, but I don't know if she'll make it...Any ideas on what I can do for this poor girl?

She looks like my Angel. Freckles is a cute name. I hope she does ok now that she isn't in a tank that probably made her more sick than she was to begin with. The shallow bowl will be fine for a while. What are her symptoms by the way? The first thing I would have done is tested the water from the store tank. It was possibly just a water issue: ph, nitrates...

If you don't call her Freckles, she looks a bit like an Amethyst or Sapphire. Ummm.... I guess add some Aquarium Salt to her water and hope for the best, but as Irescue said, could have been water issues.

She's lovely. And I agree, if you haven't already added just a tiny pinch of aquarium salt, do so. It helps heal their gills and all.
    Is she eating?
