The shelties and their labrador cousins...(34 pics)...

Yesterday it was a beautiful day out so the shelties and I decided to go and visit my cousin and his dogs near Carseland Alberta.

Since it was so hot out we decided to walk the dogs down to the river. Of course I had my camera ready...

My cousin and his dogs walking through a field on the way to the river.

Em trying to get a drink but not get her feet wet.

My cousin's labs (Lorrie and Kelsey) showing some team work to bring a stick back.

Em trying to watch her labrador cousins without falling in the water.

    My cousin's daughter Cassidy.

    His son Josh.

Kelsey retreiving a ball we found.

Lorrie (the seasoned veteran) doesn't always like accepting help from her younger counterpart... so she sometimes plays keep away with the stick.

She proudly trots out of the water carrying the "stick"

    Back to the teamwork...

    And back to keep away.
Kelsey tries to grab ahold of the stick while Lorrie tries to keep it away again.

    A water wrestling match ensues...

    Lorrie wins.

    Shaking off...

    My stick.

    Josh shows off his muscles.

Warning. The next sequence of pics show some serious sheltie torture. Don't look if you have a weak stomach...

Since it was so hot out and there was no shade I had to make sure the shelties were keeping cool.... so my cousin and I gave them swimming lessons.

Here my cousin takes Clipse out into the water.

    Kelsey gives words of encouragement.

Now for Em's turn. At first she made the mistake a lot of dogs who aren't natural swimmers make. She tried to reach out and climb on top of the water. You can see her foot reaching out of the water. She got the hang of it after a couple tries.

When we got home we played a bit of frisbee..... Kelsey is just learning how to catch it.

That's all. Hope you enjoyed. Ok I lied... that's not exactly all of the pics.... just 34 out of 54 that I chose to post.... if you want to see the others you can go to the online photo album here.
