    Zero has a butt problem

His rectal area is kind of swollen & red. It looks enlarged + not how it used to look. It seems like there is a tiny bit of blood on his butt...i made a vet appt. for tomorrow, was that appropriate? anyone know what this might be?

Impacted and infected anal glands, perhaps? It happens to some dogs, and the vet will know what to do, and help you prevent it from happening again. Most dogs' anal glands work fine, but some dogs have to get them expressed by someone periodically.

Karen guessed what I would have guessed. I would say it is always appropriate to make a vet appt. when blood is involved. Better safe than sorry!! You noticed a significant change & that is worthy of some attention.
**Hugs** to Zero, hope you can get this cleared up soon!

We get dogs with that problem in the shop all the time -- most times it happens after a dog is neutered later in it's life. We're not quite sure why, but it enlarges the rectum and makes it either really red or really black.
    I've been BOO'd!
