Happy birthday, Smokey. You don't look a day over 30.

Awwwww, what a great thing to do, celebrating his birthday like that, Corinna!!!
The pictures are terrific!!!
How appropriate since there are so many fires raging now.
Happy birthday Smokey!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.
Slick , thank goodness they aren't here this year. We have been able to recoup from last year . This was a fun event that my boss and I planned , the forest service had the fire gear for kids to put on and then had a target for threm to hit with a small water pack. It was funny the kids had no idea how hard it was and how heavy the gear is .
What great pictures you you and Smokey!
I loved him when I was a little girl.
Happy 60th Smokey the Bear
Huney, Bon & Simba-missed so very much
Remembering all the Rainbow Bridge Pets
"Walt Disney's motion picture, "Bambi" was produced in 1944 and Disney let the forest fire prevention campaign use his creation on a poster. The "Bambi" poster was a success and proved that using an animal as a fire prevention symbol would work. A fawn could not be used in subsequent campaigns because "Bambi" was on loan from Walt Disney studios for only one year;
the Forest Service would need to find an animal that would belong to the Cooperative Forest Fire Prevention Campaign. It was finally decided that the Nation's number one firefighter should be a bear...
Did you know the cartoon Smokey Bear is based upon an actual baby black bear that was found alone, charred, and scared after a devastating wildfire burned through New Mexico in 1950?"
