    Vacation pics part 1~Yellowstone~+video

We just spent a little over a week in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks. Beautiful area, I've been there several times...the last time I was there Nebo was a tiny pup. Don't let the pictures fool you, the NPs aren't at all dog friendly most pics were taken near the road, but we had fun anyway.

These are just from Yellowstone, I'll post the ones from the Tetons later.

We stayed in West Yellowstone for a couple of days first. Here's Nebo checking out the souveniers (one shop owner told us dogs were welcome inside) and later posing with his new bandana.

Before entering the park we went to Earthquake Lake. Some pics taken there...

Nebo near a huge boulder that came down during the earthquake

We stopped at another lake (Hebgen?) and for some reason beyond me, Nebo decided he was brave enough to swim. I've been trying to get him to swim for years but he's always chickened out when he got deep enough that he couldn't touch. Usually he just splashes in the shallower water. I threw the stick out too far and he actually went after it and he's been having a great time swimming since then! Kiara, maybe he'd actually swim with you now instead of waiting for you to fetch the stick then stealing it lol.

    "Throw it again!"

This is a video of him swimming. That's my mom talking, not me.

A coyote I saw shortly after we arrived. Sorry for the poor quality picture my zoom makes pics blurry

Nebo at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

    View of the canyon

I think this is at the Lower Falls I hope none of these people are suicidal

    Near the Upper Falls

The view of the Upper Falls (I think) from another hike. If you look closely you can see people on the right side by the falls.

The dogs waiting around for my parents to do the hike (had to take turns watching them as dogs aren't allowed on trails)

I didn't see any no dog signs around Old Faithful so we stayed and watched it erupt

    Nebo wasn't too impressed

Some wildlife pics...We did also get to see some adult wolves and pups interact but it was through a spotting scope (so no pics), still neat though. We also heard them howl. One of these days I hope I'll actually *see* a wolf in the wild not just through a spotting scope.
    Bison

    Mule deer bucks

    Marmot

Black bear...again sorry for the poor quality. We actually saw 4 bears (also moose, elk, and antelope pics not great though) but this was the only one I got half-way decent pics of. I really need a camera with a good zoom.

    Nebo at Mammoth

I think this was taken at the Midway Geyser Basin, something like that

That's all of these, I'll try to get the others up later if anyone is interested.

Woah. You actually saw wild bears, how exciting! Hey, thanks for the idea about tossing in the stick. I've been trying to get my dog into the water. I bet she'd chase a stick in, for sure. Breathtaking photos!! If you have others, by all means, post!!

Amy, those pictures are beautiful! Nebo is such a beautiful, beautiful dog. I bet you get so many comments from people when you take him out and about. I loved all the wild animal pictures. We have marmots here in Colorado, I think they are so cute. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures. I would love to see more.

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

    Those are awesome pictures.

Shame Nebo couldn't go hiking on the trails.

    Thanks for sharing!

Amy your photos are fantastic. Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. I have been wanting to go to Yellowstone for some time ... now I really, really want to go. A few years ago we did a day trip to the Grand Canyon when we were vacationing in Scottsdale. It was stunning but we really didn't have enough time to see a lot. Yours is a completely different perspective and so beautiful.

P.S. The doggies of course make the scenery even more spectacular. Nebo is incredibly handsome and so photogenic. Do people stop you constantly and talk to him? I certainly would

Wow! Stunning! Wonderful pictures, what a nice vacation. Always love seeing pics of the ever-handsome Nebo, wherever he is! You do pick the greatest backdrops, though!

Beautiful pictures. You really do have a wonderful eye for shots, thank you so much for sharing those. Getting Nebo against the boulder was a good idea, man, it was huge! Anyway, it looks like all the dogs had a good time, even if they weren't allowed to enjoy all the special areas of the parks.
