That's fine with me! The more people we have, the easier it will be to train the dogs!

I think that Pettalkville should be in a very special valley, known only to animals and the people who love them. It would have mountains to the north side, with plenty of snow for the huskies and Saint Bernards year-round, but never be so cold that people would be uncomfortable.
On the south side of the valley, it would be very warm year-round, nicely so, so Chihuahuas and Cornish Rexes, as well as lizards and reptiles, could go outside without being too cold. Perhaps the southwest part of the valley will be desert, like Arizona, and the eastern part of the valley will have temperate climate, so people and animals who love the seasons in New England would be happy there. In the heart of the valley, it will be warm, but not muggy, sunny, but not dangerously so, and there would be a big lake for water fun for everyone. And on one side it is bordered by the ocean, so dolphins and whales can visit, and have a safe harbor.

How about that? (And Elvis can come visit when he tires of Graceland.)

Karen, I'm not bragging or anything like that but it sounds just like San Diego, California. Summer temp run about in the 70s or 80s with usually no humidity, winters are usually mild, 60s to 70s, the Ocean borders the West, the Mountains border the East (sometimes snow in the winter)and we have a few Lakes around the County. The only problem is that we have, like most places, too many cars and to much urban sprawl.
Looks like we will have to keep looking for the perfect spot.

After reading these posts, I guess I will have to volunteer my services in the Cats office of the PR department to remind everyone that CATS are the most popular pet in America! Who wants to nominate themselves PR rep for the hamsters, bunnies, turtles, parrots, etc. before these dog people get carried away and make Pettalkville Dogtalkville !

I'll take any Job at Pettalkville. Except maybe cat bathing. To dangerous. Even scooping poop would be more fun than my current job.

Although I've never been there, I would nominate Hawaii. Everyone I know who has been there didn't want to come home and said they must go back! I guess Jasper's Mom will agree with me!

Excellent! And what would Spencer's job be?

Hmm...so many things I want to do. I would like to be the chef in a resturant and cook up our pets favortie treats. Peanut butter pancakes for breakfast and veggie platters for the bunnies. Maybe I can be in charge of the recreation department. I'll hand out tennis balls for all the dogs and schedule games and contests. I could write the society column: "Lovely Bella had a wonderful tea party Saturday afternoon. Invited guests were Bandit, Hannah, Tucker, and those beautiful sisters Honey and Lily...". Or how about security? I'll stand by with a bowl of water in case there are any fights

If you picked Hawaii, it would have to be on another island, maybe the Big Island since it has cool mountains, snow on the peaks in winter, mid range weather areas and hot areas too. And we could have beaches with pets and their owners only. Dogs allowed only off leash. It has lots of open space for new homes and businesses. Oahu, my island, is way too crowded.

I want to be the planner of huge cat playgrounds attached to every home with them. (Handymen or women will do the actual work.) Geared to the size of your cat family or what you want your cat family to be. Raised walkways, tunnels, snuggle holes, hanging and moving toys of all sorts, and a grassy area to lay in. Alterations can be made for birds, reptiles, or even opened bottomed ones for ducks. These are for their temporary play time while we are all at work. On the side I will be the spokesman for ducks and geese. Dogs will no longer have to guard the town because we'll have a geese patrol. To avoid the meetings of four and two leggeds, there will be a double fenced grassy perimiter around the town for them to travel in while they watch for intruders. Their honking will activate special cameras attached to poles in the area. No anti-animal invaders ever.

We need a special town only tv channel showing personal interviews and stories by townspeople. With an events schedule.

What about an adoption center, bringing in unwanted animals from areas where uncaring caretakers discard them. And we still need an outreach group to go out to the outside, educating people, helping animals to find homes. We can't totally go away and leave the lost ones behind?

I was talking about this town with my youngest son, Chris, and he said he would come too and invent a pet global positioning devise so that any pets accidentally lost could be immediately honed in on and brought home.

At the same time he would develop an electronic devise that will be attached to a collar or a leg (in the case of birds) and it would enable us to understand, in any language, what our pet says to us, and they be able to understand what we say.

    Can he come too?

By all means, bring your kids, and bring your grandparents. A school program for learning the care and respect of animals - Perfect! A nursing home with lots of seniors that have love to give our pets, and that have decades of experience with caring for pets...sounds like just what Pettalkville can use!

Of course, seniors that are healthy and live at home can be part of any pet projects! And working along side our youngsters will give the kids and the pets so many hours of love and care!

We need folks of all ages for Pet TLC!
