There I had always imagined orange Fister to be the most gentle kind of cat and had reckoned that in his famous picture he was most likely licking milk off his nose. Now, I have come to understand that he is a minature tiger, a true wild cat, and that as likely as not he is licking the blood of some unsuspecting, poor soul who tired to corner him and who is even now on his way to the hospital.

That is one of the things I like best about cats. Unlike the thoroughly domesticated dog, the heart of a wild creature beats inside every cat, yet the cat and the human can reach across the wild barrier and become the fastest of friends but never master and slave. Knowing a good many people who would have long ago just brought out the .22 or the .410 and put an end to the lineage that spawned Fister, I commend Brandi and her man for their patience and love, even at the cost of their own blood spilled.

And Fister has my greatest admiration for ultimately being able to recognize his human friends even while keeping his wild spirit unbent - notwithstanding his sipping of an occassional cup of tea.

    Fabulous Fister!

Fister!! I couldn't let the day go by without congratulating you. Obviously you're well known around here and I'm most honored to meet you on your special day! Oh I'd love to give you a great big hug, you are a little tiger!! I'm thrilled you've found such a wonderful home and equally happy for your mom and dad for having the good fortune of being your parents. Cleo saw your picture and said "I want one of THOSE!!" Hope you had a wonderful day, sweetheart!!

Congratulations Fister on being todays COTD! It's so nice you have a warm happy home now instead of living on the streets. It's hard to believe that someone as cute as you was once a wild cat and has sent people to the hospital! I hope to see more great photos and hear more great stories about you here at pettalk!

Fister, you're a cat and a half! Your stare would terrorize any rodent. You must have studied with a leopard.

    Fister "His Majesty"

When I saw the little picture on DOTD I also exclaimed in delight "IT'S FISTER"

Oh my, Fister you look so regal and soooo dignified on your windowsill that from now on we have to adress you in third person as "His Majesty", not less!
And you certanly reign over our hearts! And today you are on the top of the worlD as COTD.

Congrats to you in your special day and to your parents, beeing so patient! We have a saying here that says "The good things takes long to get it".

I wish I could reach you through the screen and pet you, the most handsome orange tabby I've ever seen.

Fister is SO proud and happy for all your posts - and so are we!! He still walks around acting like a King in his Castle - and just sucks up all the attention he can get!

Purrs, headbumpies and a big slurp to you all!

    Thanks a million, petpals!

I love that picture of Fister with his tongue out. I also loved the one of him sitting in his window. He really is a beautiful cat.

Last night when I got home I had to have Terry check out just who made COTD. First of all Peanut jumped up on my lap and looked at the screen (she normally just buries her head in my arm when I'm on the computer), then Tubby walked over and meowed. Then we had to run off to get my car from the shop and left without closing the window with Fister on it. I swear Fister was the last thing I saw as I glanced back at the computer before walking out the door. Funny thing was, when we got home Fister was not up there anymore. The only ones home during that time were Tubby and Peanut, so I wonder just what kind of messages were going back and forth that we'll never know about. Further evidence that there is a little sub-culture of kitties and doggies here on Pet Talk that us humans aren't supposed to know about.

Hey, Mister Fister! I missed your big day! I have no excuse, but, I guess, better later than never.
I hope you have a long happy life and get rid of your health problems
