Any news on the newest rescue? And of course, how is Hope? I hope everyone there had a great Thanksgiving.

I'm glad to report that both of our newest rescues continue to improve. The little shepherd, now named Maya, is in a foster home and is starting to eat quite well. She loves her foster parents and I feel she will do well in her new home. Chris, the St. Bernard, is recovering well and is now working with a trainer. He had no training or socialization before and could not even be walked. He will work with the trainer for a while and then hopefully find a home where someone has some time to spend with him. Hope had her first (small) taste of turkey and boy-did she love it!! She is doing very well and has only 3 more weeks of her lampshade. On a sad note, Wednesday we lost Max, our cocker mix who was 12. He had a tumor in his spleen that ruptured. They figure is was cancer. I have lost 4 dogs in the last year to cancer. Not a very good Thanksgiving and it has not been a good year for my dog family but they will be with me forever and each has added something special to my life. The grief sometimes is overwhelming. We all know that they won't live forever but the time that they have with us is so short. One is never prepared for their passing.![]()
Julie,
I am glad to hear the good news about Hope
and also the news of Maya & Chris...
I want to offer my sympathy in the passing
of your dog Max. I am so very sorry...
As you said, we know in our minds that they
will not live as long as we want them to,but
it's still a shock to the heart when they
leave us...I hope Max did not suffer, and
know that his spirit will be with you forever
You & your husband are in my prayers.
Please take good care of yourself...

I am so sorry about Max. At least you have your other fukids and sweet Hope to cheer you up.
Oh Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about Max and the other 3 you have lost this year. Our thoughts are with you. I am, however, glad to hear about Hope, Maya, and Chris! Turkey is a wonderful thing! I'm also glad that you are now a part of the Pet Talk family and hope that we can all continue to talk and relate our wonderful pet stories.

Dear, Angel Julie. I am so very, terribly sorry to hear that you lost your precious Max. You have had to deal with so much loss over such a short period of time. Yet still, you always manage to open your heart, to find the love to give and share with others in need or want. You are in every sense of the word, heaven sent. My family sends you prayers and wishes that your heart will begin to heal and that you will find strength and support in those who love you. I know Hope and her continued progress and recovery, as well as her love, must lighten your heart a bit.

Julie, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Max. You are right they are here with us for such a short time that we must make every minute count. I know how hard it is to deal with the tragedies, but each one has a corner of our heart so that we always remember. I'm glad to hear that Hope is doing well she is a true miracle.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers for us and Max. It has been really hard to come home and not have him here. The other dogs look for him and then look at me like "where is he?" They too grieve for the loss of their friend. I think of all the fun and silly things he did and it makes me smile but not being able to pet him is really tough.
Hope is doing very well and it has been 4 weeks since her surgery. She is now running in the dog run so I know she can see very well. She loves to play chase (me chasing her) and even with her "lampshade" on she knows exactly where I am. She brings joy to my heart every day and helps me to keep going. I promise I will get a picture soon so you can see her beautiful eyes!
Julie, just wanted to express my sympathies about Max. I keep thinking my Shiloh will be going soon -- she's 12 1/2 and getting a little arthritic, but otherwise in good health, Thank God! Hope has to be a great blessing now for you -- to know you've helped her so much and she must be loving you so much, but nothing but time will heal the ache you have for your losses. I lost my little Trev over a year ago and still have moments when I grieve for her. Especially when one of my Pet Talk friends loses one of theirs.
Prayers and best wishes go out to you from the furkids and I here in Tennessee.
Hey Julie, doesn't Hope get her "lampshade" off soon? I'm having Hope withdrawals!

Hi Everybody!! Hope continues to do well and I have been able to take her "lampshade" off when I am at home and she is becoming quite playful! She goes back to the Dr. on Wednesday and if all is well the lampshade will be off permanently. She is very anxious to play with her friends and go outside and run with them. Her long recovery is finally coming to a close and it will be great for her to have the life she so richly deserves.![]()
I am so very happy for Hope. She is so lucky to have found you! Have a wonderful holiday season.
