Oh Goody!!! Pictures on their way. I would have lost my mind leaving her alone all day. I wouldn't have gotten much teaching done I can promise you that. I'm glad to hear that Hope has her own private nanny...that should ease your mind some. I know that when I go back to school on Tuesday that I'll be worried about my DaisyMae. I'm so glad that God answered all of our prayers...I knew He would though, how could He resist such tenacious females?

Hope is such a funny girl! The stitches in her eyes are starting to heal so her eyes itch and since she can't rub or scratch her eyes, she flutters her eyes and must think she can scracth her eyes that way! It is the funniest thing to watch!!! "Pretty girl" with the "lampshade" is really something else!!!!

    DOGRESQ,
Hi Julie, just wondering how Hope is doing
lately? Still fluttering her eyes at you?
I think of you and your fur gang everyday,
and wish the Best to All of you !! I hope
the "lampshade" thingy is not slowing Hope
down or bothering her too much.
Prayers and Good Positive thoughts for Hope
and All of your Fur-Kids !!! Liz.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't kept in touch lately but the rescue business never ends! We had to rescue a St. Bernard that was on a chain and had only an old car part for shelter and he was trying to get under the car part for shelter and had lacerations all over his back and neck that had abscessed. He was grossly underweight also. He is now safe with us and recovering. And yesterday we got a shepherd mix from another facility that is another "Hope" case. Severely emaciated and is also an older gal-about 7-8 years old. Fortunately she is in good health otherwise. She just needs a lot of TLC and good nutrition. She is still at the veterinary hospital and will go to a foster home this week. Good news is that Hope's vision has greatly improved over the past week and she can see very clearly now. I can let her outside and don't have to have her on a leash and she gets around just fine. She is anxious to play with the other dogs but can't for another 3-4 weeks. This Thanksgiving has special meaning as I am very thankful that Hope has recovered so well and that we have had all of you to be with us through this whole ordeal!! We don't know what we would have done without all of you! Hope and I wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Sue said it all, Julie. I was thinking that people like you are at the top of my "what I'm thankful for list". I'm so glad that Hope is continuing to improve. And I wish lots of love and happiness for the two newesst of your rescues. Such sad stories but hopefully their futures are now as bright as Hope's.

I just caught up on this story. There really aren't words. I wasn't going to look, then I saw she was in Colorado, too. I HAD to look then. I don't know what to say except I'm really glad she found caring people to help her.

The heartbreak is that we can't help them all. We can't adopt them all and we can't save them all. But we can take great comfort in knowing we CAN save some of them.

I am now an owned-by-cat (as opposed to a cat owner) through similar conditions. I was updating the Shelter's webpage and took this guy's picture. He looked worse than terrible. By the time he had wormed his way into my soul and I adopted him, he was thin, almost totally bald from the mats being cut out of his coat, he needed two infected teeth removed (one was broken off at the gum), neutered, and his eyelids were turned in and he had to have them surgically corrected so he could see without pain. Now, however, he's the gorgeous fluffy white dandelion of a kitty I knew he always was. From the moment I saw him, I saw him whole and healthy. The most outstanding thing was through all his misery he had the best, most loving disposition. He still does.

I wish I could tell the world that ya gotta look at a cat or dog through the eyes of love and see beyond the physical. People, too.

Now my big white kitty lives in total (almost) harmony with my four dogs and my neighbor's dog, too!

    They're worth the effort.
