    Ok, you said to ask....

We were thinking about staying at the same campground as Kfmar but were unsure because of all the county and state roads that we would need to take between there and the Bark Park. We know we can get there from the Cracker Barrel, so my question is, with this re-routing, are all the roads "big rig" friendly? Or should we just plan on the Cracker Barrel to make it easy on everyone (meaning you, Phred )?

Thanks for the help. I'm going to look tonight to make sure I still have the directions from last year....I'm almost positive I do.....

The "QUICK Answer" to Deb's Question is YES!
The "Heritage Springs Campground" at Vanlue route
Back TO the Findlay Dawg Park *IS* ALL "Big Rig Friendly"

    Well... "sorta" *friendly*...
at least there are NOT any *rickity bridges*...

And since Terry managed to wheel 'er into the Parking Lot
AT the Dawg Park without mowing down anything...
He can handle the lil 1 & 1/2 lane country back road turns!

Just *WATCH* for the two *hairy ones* so you don't *miss* em!
    #1 is the RIGHT Turn from OH-37 onto Twp Rd 234;
#2 is from Twp Rd 234 RIGHT onto Twp Rd 207 -
. . THAT one is "hairy" kuz you're distracted thinking you're
    . . going to drive straight into the Big Barn;
    . . the "Twp Rd 207" SIGN is on the left;
. . and 207 is "hidden" by the tall pines on the right
. . Just keep 'er down under 50 mph after you STOP at the Church!

Now Here's the **IMPORTANT** item for both KAYANN & Debbie...

Heritage Springs Campground is "almost" **FULL**!!!

KayAnn - did your Dad CALL & Make a Reservation???
    PHONE # -s (419) 387-7738

I called to check on HOW to get TO their campground -
and Mrs. Owner said they only had "a couple" CAMPING sites
    left for Memorial Day Weekend...

Once we get past the Question of *IF* KayAnn is going to
    actually be staying there...
we can address the "Travel Route" of getting OFF OH-15 and
    into the Campground...
It's NOT quite as "easy" as MapQuest makes it *look*.

It *IS* "Big Rig Friendly" Deb - just not "obvious"
    from the maps...

And she said your "Big Rig" prolly won't make one Campground TURN...
she said they could "Put you Out Front" (as long as it din't rain)...

DEB - Terry otta call em -
after KayAnn says if they are going to be able to "get in" there.

More later - if Heritage Springs IS a real possibility.

    YES, we ARE staying there.

My dad already made reservations and has paid for it.

Once we get in Findlay I basically remeber how to get to the park... my dad does too.

Do you mean the bridge that had the bars/stuff over top of it?

We got there by a little road that went along a river... it was overflooded too when we were there.

    KayAnn ~

If you stay at Heritage Springs Campground -
    you're right ON OHIO-15...

Use the "Modifications" outlined in today's post above to
go directly to the Dog Park -
it's WAY OUT of your way to go "into Findlay" in order
to follow the route you used last year.

FROM Heritage Springs TO the Dog Park...

. . Get ONTO OHIO-15 headed WEST at Vanlue...
. . Another 4.8 miles WEST of Vanlue and you
    .. EXIT OH-15 at "Mt Blanchard / Findlay / OH-37
.. Turn RIGHT on OH-37 West (towards Findlay)
.. go 1.1 miles and *watch carefully* for the very small "234" sign
. . (the sign is on the LEFT side of the highway)
.. Turn RIGHT on Township Road 234
.. go 1.4 miles north on Twp Rd 234 -
. . (straight through a STOP sign at County Rd 205
. . with a Red Brick Church on the far left corner)

    .. Landmarks >>
. . You're *looking* for a lil "Twp Rd 207" sign that's on the left
. . side of 234; at a left-jog in the road to go around a big farm...
. . with tall pine trees "hiding" Twp Rd 207...
. . (after you *miss* 207; just trun around at the big farm)
.. Turn RIGHT onto Twp Rd 207...
. . you'll see the Reservoir (BIG dirt mound with grass)
. . road ONLY turns to left paralleling the Reservoir
. . go half a mile; road ONLY turns Right - following along
. . beside the Reservoir which stays on your right...
. . another 1 mile and Rd 207 STOPS at "County Road 208"
    . . (You're "almost" there!)
.. Turn LEFT on Twp Rd 208 and ENTER the Park
. . pass sign "Riverbend Recreation Area"
. . pass "The LODGE" - on your left -
. . a large, new Pavilion (with picnic tables under porch roof)
.. SLOW DOWN; Turn LEFT into parking lot JUST past "The LODGE"

"Our" Pavilion #7 is the First one on the right as you enter the
parking lot. Dawg Park is behind Pavilion #7.

*"LOOK*" for Debbie & Terry's BIG Motor Home in the lot!

I drive right by Vanlue on my way to Findlay if you (Terry and Debbie and Kay and Dad) want me to I can come to the Campground and ya'll can follow me to the bark park. It is a straight shot once you get off of the road that the campground is on I can take you the way that you got the Big Rig to the park last year.

    Okay, I'm thouroghly confused.

Is the bridge on TR 241 closed?

Us I-75er's that come from the north take the 161 exit

    Left on Alt Route 12

    Right on CR 236

    Left on SR 568

Then turn right onto TR 241, cross the bridge, and viola we're in the park.

If you usually take 568 (Sandusky St.) to get to the dog park, ignore all the afore mentioned detours. You are still okay.

KIMMY - and ALL I-75 Travelers

WHATEVER WAY you wandered from the Interstate (I-75) ~
from the North (Kimmy) or the South (Johanna & Anna) ~
    into the Dawg Park...

you CAN CONTINUE to use your same *favorite* route...
If da Burdz haven't eaten your Bread Crumz...
    follow your ole, familiar, Trail.

    ONLY ONES
who need to find a New Trail...
are folks who used to come up OH-23 and OH-15...
and wandered into the Park from Below (SOUTH and South-EAST of the Reservoir.

    ------------------------------------------------

And Kimmy - YOUR Path/Trail from I-75 is NOT the same one that other folks use...

    Kimmy's Route works just **FINE**...

OTHER FOLKS who stay on I-75 and exit at # 157 /Ohio Route 12 -
    THAT Trail through Downtown Findlay
    (using OH-568 / Sandusky St)
is STILL A GOOD WAY, too.

    REPEATING --
    I-75 Travelers - don't change NUFFIN!
Do It like ya did the Last Tyme!

But feel free to *ASK* iffin you're not sure!

    Hey Gabbie! *waves*

Thanks ya'll. I think the Findlay area needs to give it's streets NAMES instead of numbers. LOL! All those numbers made me all confused.

Hey Gabbie, I remember you! Glad you could join us here at PT! I'm not on the dog side too much, but if you want to see some adorable kitties (not that I'm biased or anything) I'm pretty active on the cat side and T & P are regulars there too.

Okay - no guarantees, but Leo and I are going to try to make it. I found someone to dog sit the other dogs (my sis and BIL are going to be out of town), but it depends on how comfortable I feel after she has had them a couple of days. I really want to be there and meet everyone, but obviously I have to think of the fur kids first. I am thinking I will drive out late Saturday and drive home on Sunday so that the dogs have less time without me watching out for them. It also depends on what is planned for the shelter initiative - we might do a big campaign that weekend. If I do make it, it will be a last minute decision - so I don't want to commit, but if I do make it, I will bring some munchies to contribute to the event.
