Do you think this was wrong of me?

I USED to work at a petstore that had puppies when I was younger like 10-13
and I went in there yesterday and they had husky pups and the kid I used to work with was holding one and hes like oh look how cute they are and there were people standing there petting it and I said ya too bad they come from puppy mills and spend there days sitting in rott with no interaction. I felt like saying more but I didnt. He looked at me when they left and he's like why did you say that when customers were there, I'm like I dont care I dotn work here anymore I never will again and if it means saving these puppies then I will say what I want. Do you guys think that was wrong for me saying that around customers or right? Also I went in again today cause there was a sweet bunny in there I was playing with and went back to see him and some one said oh look a maltipoo and someone said whats that and they said a shit zu and a maltise cross.. I was about to go up to them and blurt out ya you can get one from the local pound for 300$ less and you'll be saving its life instead of increasing these puppies chance of dying. But they stopped talking by the time I got there. My mom thinks I was in the wrong for saying those things! But she dosent understand very well where these puppies come from either.

Since when can you work when your 10 years old?

I say stuff like that when I'm in petstores. It's the truth so I see nothing wrong with it.

I think the people deserve to know where their puppy came from

Puppy Mills are very sticky situations. You'd hate to see what would happen to the puppies if you don't buy them, but if you DO, then you're supporting the puppy mill. Personally, I believe all dogs need saving. All dogs who were not bred for the best of the breed should not have been bred. So, all dogs except from reputable breeders need saving.

I don't think it was wrong of you.

Being the immature person I am, I probably would have said more. Good for you for leaving it at that. I think that was very good of you to say it.

    Maybe A Little Discretion

I don't think you are wrong but perhaps you can find more efective and meaningful ways to get your message heard and/or make a difference. The folks who frequent pet stores (remember - you were there and have since gone back) will continue to do so.

Perhaps you can get a job with a rescue group - or start one. Advertise and compete against those puppy mill pet stores and spread the word with literature and invitations to come see your beautiful babies.

It wasn't wrong of you to say that. People who think about supporting these pet stores should have the right to know where these pups come from. Then they can make the decision of killing puppies in shelters or not buying from the pet stores.

You did nothing wrong at all. My mom would've said the exact same thing if I had done that. It's just, they don't understand the reality of what these poor animals go through.

Like Bob's Dad said, maybe you could start a rescue group or something. Maybe get some information off the internet and print it off and hand it out to people. They need to understand what is going on right in front of them.

But it's illegal here to work so young, I'm guessing that there is a law against that where you are too?

Uhh I'm too young to do any of that...lol
But you weren't to young to work at the petstore!

You're never too young to start making a difference.

It is against the law for any establishment to hire a 10 year old, even as a volunteer.

I think you did the right thing. When, I'm in a petstore I say things to my friends but really loud so people can hear. Once, at this place I said somethign and the clerk stared at me like "What are you doing?". Ask I_luv_rusty! I get riduculious sometimes. But not with my friends as much as my family.

Yup! It took me forever to think of what a 13 yr old could do to help spread puppy mill awareness, and BYB awareness, but I thought of something!

Exactly that is why this place is so bad and they have never been caught for it yet

But your heart is in the right place. Maybe something to aspire to at a later date. Unfortuneatly, it is hard to devote your time to these causes on a full time basis. God bless those who have and do... they are greatly appreciated but rarely personally thanked!!!
