What do you think of litter box training dogs?

    ....? Post & Poll

I picked that its a fine idea, because it doesn't bother me if other people do. I understand that some people live in an apartment or such and there isn't any other place for the dog to go.
I think its sorta pointless if you have your own yard, though. Like us, we'd never think about litter training our dogs (we have enough fun cleaning the cat's litterboxes! ).

Personally, I see no reason for it at all unless you have a very small dog and you have a lot of hawks or similar birds around or you live in an appartment on one of the upper floors and don't have easy access to grass. If you live in a regular house, have a yard and are not at a huge risk of having your dog taken by a bird I think that no matter what the weather or the size of your dog, it should always be taken outside.

it's all relative but I would avoid it at all costs as ONE litter box is almost too much for me!

I voted it's STUPID STUPID because if you can't take your dog outside, well... I just don't see the point, when you get a dog you should be commiting to take it outside for potty breaks yourself... not being lazy and not doing so. I think litterboxes are for cats. Definetly NOT dogs.

I dunno. I cna see how it would come in handy during winter or while you're away at work, or something, but in the long run dogs REALLY need to be going outside and getting exercise outside and litterbox training them seems to provoke laziness on the owners' part.

Then again as I've said there are always exceptions (such as an arthritic dog who can't make it up or down steps, smaller dogs in the winter etc) but for the most part even if I did litter box train, I would still make a point to train them to potty outside as well.
