    Worried meowmie!

I was upstairs playing with Flutter when she rolled over and something caught my eye: her amputated leg looked red, I looked closer and saw a suture sticking out of her leg, and it seems to be inflamed and a slight watery substance is coming out.

I called the vet and we have an appointment first thing tomorrow morning, and in the meantime I'm going to be a mess worrying that she'll do something to the suture tonight that would rip the thread out, open the wound, etc.

Attached is a photo of the suture - I don't want anyone to click the attachement who might be grossed out by it.

Poor little princess, she's been through so much. I pray its nt getting infected, though I DO have Clavimox on hand shold they tell me she needs to be medicated for an infection.

Going to the vet is the best thing you can do! Maybe Flutter only hurt herself a bit by falling on her scar??

Poor little girl...does it seem to bother her? Is she licking it or doing anything that might indicate it is hurting her?

At least you can find out tomorrow (I know, you will be anxiety-ridden all night!).

    Keep us posted!!

Wonder if it is a suture that was supposed to dissolve - and didn't? I had back surgery 22 years ago, and have had 3 sutures come to the surface over the years. Very annoying.

Interesting. I will be waiting to find out what the vet thinks.

    Worried Meowmie

Of course you're worried, Meowmie. That's completely understandable. Good to know your vet will see her in the morning. Let's think positive, it's really nothing serious going on. That has to be terribly annoying to our sweet little Flutter. Please let us know what your vet says.

At first glance I would say not infected that it just maybe a sepage from the suture. I would dab it with some peroxide which is a universal wound cleaner.

Maybe it's a suture that was overlooked earlier by the Vet. I hope
they can remove it & Flutter heals up quickly.

okie dokie.... the thread is gone She must have taken matters into her own paw! I swear it wasn't there earlier today.

I will dab it with peroxide tonight and we will still be seeing the vet tomorrow anyway. Better safe than sorry - especially since it wouldn't be a charged visit

aww...poor Meowmie! I have to agree with some of the other posters - that it looks fairly good but always best to see the vet and to know for sure.

    (((HUGS))) to you Kim.

Flutter is probably overdoing her playing. It is impossible to stop a Young Cat like Flutter from going all out when she starts to get going.
We are praying that its nothing serious, and that Flutter will be All Right.

I don't think it looks bad...but pictures sometimes don't show everything. It does look like serum like Craftlady says, but if it's inflamed and hot to the touch, it could be infected. Wasn't Flutter sent home with antibiotics after such an invasive surgery?

Well, we're back! The vet says she looks AWESOME (but I knew that )

Jan, yes, she had 10 days of Clavimox sent home with her, which is probably why it is not infected right now.

Now, all that needs to happen is for hubby to fill out her adoption forms for me for Christmas. Since its not looking like he's interested in filling out paperwork, *I* will be giving myself a Christmas gift this year
