    Pictures FromThe International Cat Show

Hi, my parents and I went to the International Cat Show yesterday and we all had a great time. It's the largest cat show that I've ever been to and it was my parents very first show. I learned a lot about cats and was able to take some decent pictures of them while they were outside of their cages. Enjoy!

These first two pictures are cats that have been trained from the Iams company.

Here's a Maine Coon pushing a shopping cart.

Here's an 8 year old cat that was feral. She seemed to have more energy than the rest of the cats. She's walking the tight rope.

    Cat Agility:
Here are two pictures showing the mazes for cat agility. Unfortunately, none of the cats that I saw knew how or wanted to go through all of the tunnels, hoops, stairs etc. Any cat was eligible for a $10 entry fee and they had 3 different tries to do this.

I sat in the first row and listened to a woman talking about the different breeds of cats. It was called the "Breed Showcase". Here are the cats that she showed us.

    Red Abyssinian:

Norwegian Forest Cat: This cat was so sweet and kept putting his paws on the lady's chest and giving her kisses. He reminded me so much of my Sky and now I'm sure that he has some of this breed mixed in with him.

Chartreux: I think this one is 8 years old and a retired champion.

Russian Blue: This is a male and I think that he's also won many awards.

Japanese Bobtail: This breed comes from Japan and is known as a typical street cat there. They can also come in many different colors but this one is known as Meko.

Persian: This seems to still be the most popular breed because I saw more of them at the show than any other breed.

Burmese: These are the most intelligient of the Siamese breed. They're also great lap cats.

Siamese: Although they look very lean and thin, they weigh a lot because they're so muscular. This is a Lilac Point Siamese.

Tonkinese: This orginally came from cross breeding the Burmese with the Siamese. They are highly intelligent, have a wonderful sense of humor, are very affectionate lap cats, and have gregarious personalities. My mom said that she'd love a cat like this.

Birman: This breed is very gentle, polite, out going, and affectionate. My dad seemed to really like this one.

Occicat:This male just turned 8 months old and he'll double his size by the time he's an adult.

Maine Coon: This is a 3 year old 22lb male. He may still have some more growing to do.

Cornish Rex: These come in almost every color imaginable. They have soft wavy curls and curly whiskers too.

    Look at that tail!!!

Scottish Fold: This is a 6 month old female. She's such a little sweetheart.

Sphynx: Although they may look hairless, they do have a few hairs on their body. This one looks like he's on the slim side because they usually have pot bellies too.

American Short Hair: This is one of the 2 natural breeds from the United States. The other one is the Maine Coon. These are also very quiet cats.

That's all. I hope you enjoyed them.

WOW! You took LOTS more than I did - I think I got about 5 pics. There seemed to be aisles and aisles full of Persians - perhaps they are the #1 breed in America.

I also was happy to see lots of Sphinxes. Some of them did have pot bellies and reminded me of MooShoo.

Rats. Now I'm REALLY mad that I couldn't go to the show.

Thank you for ALL the great pictures!

I think if I had to pick a breed, I'd like a Japanese bobtail.

BTW, was that huge red Maine Coon we saw at the San Jose fairgrounds there? One of my auditions was for an adaptation of The Magician's Nephew (the first Narnia book), and I think he'd make a great Aslan.

Wow! Great photos, and thanks for taking and sharing them! Beautiful kitties, every one of them. Though I will say I worry about the breathing ability of the currently trendy really-flat-faced Persians. And this way, by you taking the photos, I could see all those different cats and not need an inhaler!
