    Help! New kittens..

Our Tole Family have just gotten 2 female tiger kitties, both 7 months old, both sisters. I actually got them from a vet who fosters cats of her own. She gave us some good advice and what not..and i know that its going to take some time for them to adjust...but im concerned and im wondering if this is normal and if it will go away..

all the time at the vet clinic they were hissing at each other..and the vet insistied they werent like that..so i didnt mind..and when we brought them home..same thing..they hissed at each other..well one mia..seems dominating..and was the one who actually came around.shes sniffed every part of this house and what not and ive played with her and ive feed her and she used the litter box! shes still hesitant for me to touch her...seeing as its the first nite and all...but i know that will come with time.but my concerin is lolli...shes been in hiding this whole time!..and when mia notices lolli coming out she starts growling and hissing..i had to get mia out of the room to let lolli eat cause she wont come out of hiding in my closet..when i played with mia i tried to get lolli involved..but ...nothing so far..is this normal? and will it or can it go away?

    help!

    your new kittens

this sounds like something i went through with my cats. Give them both a little time and if they still dont get along find one of them a good home. The bottom line is that some cats are not going to get along no matter what you do. It maybe heartbreaking to have to decide which one goes but it may be best for the health of the kitten that hides all the time. kittens that live in constant fear of another tend to be less healthy. With mine we already had three and one more just showed up on our doorstep. She wanted to stay so bad that she clawed at the windows till her paws went bloody. We took her in and she fit right in with two of them. The other one just did not want her there and she attacked her everychance she got and we were afraid that our cat would kill the new one so she had to go seeing as we already had our three cats fixed. it was hard but it had to be done.

You need to gradually introduce them. Put the new kitties in a room. Rub them down with a towel and let your other kitties sniff it. Do the same with your kitties. Let them meet eatch other under the door. Eventually, after a couple of weeks, let them out to explore. Keep a spray bottle handy with water in it in case there are any bad confrontation, i.e., biting, fighting, etc. It's okay for hissing and growling, as the older kitties are trying to let the new kitties know they were there first.

It takes time and patience to introduce cats. I hope you will take the time to help all cats involved to get to know one another.
