Thanks i love chihuahua very much and have always wanted one, so i thought hell i got a job, i'm movin out soon why not get one. so i found a breeder close to my home on breeders.net and thats how i met sherry and i got to pick out my baby. i still need $217 for him since he is $400 but i have some money saved and i still need aleast another $100 for stuff like bowels, and collars i priced all it at petco.com plus i decided i'm goin to litter train him and i dont think i'm goin to get him fix unless..he has markin or other problems. and another 80 bucks for vet and shots.

I'd really reconsider this if you dont plan on showing him --- neutering him will give him a healthier and longer life! Chihuahuas are very prone to aggression, and neutering will help alot, not to mention it will make him alot less sexually frustrated. He won't try to run away to look for females, and he will have virtually no chance of testicular or prostate cancer. It's really alot better for him. Unless you are interested in showing or reputable breeding, I'd really consider neutering him.

i have been thinking about showing that has crossed my mind alot and i'm not sure that i could afford the opperation also. The breeders male who is Kirbys dad is the best Chihuahua i have every met, he is friendly and loves to give kisses. I just want my Chihuahua to be like him and i have read the book "Chihuahua's are for dummies" inside and out

If you can't afford to neuter, you really can't afford to show. Maybe contact a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, or see if you have a Canine Connections near you that will sponsor Kirby and pay for him to get fixed? My dog is a showdog, and the entries are usually reasonable, but the costs really do add up. Entering two shows can be the same price as neutering. Neutering really is cheaper in the long run and you can avoid some health and behavioural problems, not to mention "accidents" that can get you in alot of trouble and kill animals that need homes in shelters. Maybe talk to the breeder and see if you can have Kirby on a co-ownership -- that way she may be willing to pay the entry fees to allow Kirby into shows. I just hate to see a dog go unaltered for money reasons.

I Was Just Thinking That, It Adds Up For 2 Days At A Show Just For The Entries Were 60 And Thats How Much It Cost To Get Her Spayed And It Would Be Lower For You Because She Is A Smaller Breed.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

well i cant do a co-ownership since i'm leavin the state in 3 months for good and not returning...ever again. well i see what i can do, i was thinkin of breeding also. but i guess i will see where the wind takes me, maybe my grandma can chip in some money to get him fixed.

But i did ask the breeder what she thinks and she thinks that getting him fixed isnt a big deal and that it would better for him not to be. But she said gettin him fixed has its good points, but she still thinks leavin him unfixed is fine.

Co-ownership outside of the state is no problem. Visa's mother lives here in BC and she is co-owned with another breeder down in the states.

Remember that breeding will cost you thousands of dollars -- it's definatly not something that you can afford if you can't afford a $50 operation!

The price of neutering varies, depending on where you go. I agree that you should check out a low cost spay/neuter clinic. Around here, they only charge $45 for a neuter. I think that the best thing would be to get him neutered
