Mom to Veiled, have you considered buying a rectangular cage? Cylandrical cages can cause confusion and nervousness in birds, but if your tiel is tame and friendly, I wouldn't worry about it then

I know round cages aren't the best. Harley was given to me with the cage, he has always had that one. He really only eats and sleeps in there. He comes and goes as he pleases. His door is always open, and now that is gets dark pretty early I don't even cover his cage anymore. He is extremely tame and friendly. Thank you for your advice and concern

Ash I love your new birdies! They are beautiful!

I just posted pics of Dawn recently, but I'll add a few to this thread too. Dawn is a cinnamon pearl pied.

. I love seeing these happy winged critters. I'll have my own bird eventually when I graduate and have time and space for a zoo.

Those are called normal greys. There aren't actually a different kinds of cockatiel but there are different color mutations. There are some really beautiful mutations out there. I was looking for a site that would show a lot of different photos of different mutations but it's hard to find one that really shows lots of the mutations. This one is pretty good although the pics themselves aren't the best:

This one shows some really beautiful platinums and pastels:

I used to have a really good site bookmarked that had lots of pictures of different mutations including olives and fallows, but I lost it at some point and can't find it again!

edit: Found kind of a fun little tiel quiz here: http://www.funtrivia.com/playquiz.cfm?qid=88909&origin=

    I got 9/10 right, missed #3!
