Question Question about a friends dog

Ok I don't personally do not have a dog but my bestfriend has a bassithound/beagal something or other and when he gets excited he trickles pee on the floor and there is a trail of "spots of pee" on the floor. He is otherwise potty trained he will go to the door to be let out but it is only when he gets excited like when company comes over he does this. She asked me why he might be doing this and I told her I would come here and ask to see if anyone has any insight. Thank you in advance for any comments and/or suggestions.

If it isn't a bladder problem, then it's most likely submissive peeing. I'm sure you can find several articles about it on the Net. It's very common.

Yeah it does sound like submissive urination. Dogs who submissively urinate usually do so when they are very excited. I think reading up on it would be the best thing- I don't really know how to stop the behavior but maybe your friend could prevent it from happening sometimes by remaining calm and trying not to get the dog over-excitied (like when they are greeting the dog coming home).

Here are some links on submissive urination:

Hope they help. I've had a few foster dogs with this problem. One was a young adult male Pit mix that would roll over on his back for a belly rub and then *squirt squirt* all over himself and anyone that got too close LOL. The other was a female Heeler. When I called to her she would run up, squat and piddle (seems to be a Heeler trait).
