    we made it through Rita

hi Pt'ers! This is a quick post, but i wanted to let everyone know we made it through ok.The storm turned more east at the last minute so we didnt get the worst of it.We tried leaving for Dallas friday morning, but that bus explosion backed up traffic on I-45 so we just turned around and came home.We have no serious damage, the neighbor lost 2 trees.I have some pictures i'll upload later. We lost power on Saturday morning around 4:00 am,and it just came back on Sunday at 1:30 in the afternoon, but it went on and off all day.The people across the street dont have power yet.The house started getting very hot. There's no gas here,so were conserving and only going out if we need to.
We finished cleaning up today, and overall we have 32 bags full of leaves, needles, twigs etc,and 4 bundles of sticks.I have pictures and i'll upload them sooner or later, when ever i have time. All of our neighbors helped eachother out,but most of the younger neighbors helped out the senior citizens the most.My neighbor Jim who lost his tree,is a senior and about 20 people were out there helping him cut down his trees.
The kids made it through, they werent scared at all .Kodie had to go to the bathroom saturday at 3:00am,right when the storm was starting,we had to take him out on the side of the house, lol.
Just wanted to let you know were ok.

Glad you have a home to go back to. I haven't heard from Mari (mumpkees) who is in Houston and evacuated with all her furkids on Thurs. I'm glad the storm wasn't as devastating as Katrina.

Glad you're all okay. The wind thru the trees is quite ominous sounding.

Glad to hear that it wasn't too bad for you. Sounds like you had some major cleanup going on. That's a lot of leaves!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.

Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.
