gee that was so helpful! lol J/K

ok Mistys counter surfing issues are not totally resolved yet, they have gotten WAY WAY better though, so I tried something that I keep reading, and that is to bait food on the counter with a loud shaker can to give her a bad experience, I figered it would work, after all most loud or sudden noises scare the cr*p out of her. and so I makes a shaker can and baited food, and I waited, the first time the shaker can started to move she ran scared, a few moments later I hear a loud crash as the shaker can crashes to the floor.. Misty did not even flinch and gobbled up the bait before I could do a thing. I have now tried every "give her a bad experince" trap in the book and aboslutly NOTHING phases her. it used to be that she counter surfed no matter what , since the last time I posted about this that has completly changed and she only countersurfs when I am definatly not around. it is litteraly impossable to block off my kitchen, so thats no help. I tried umbelicle cord that was no help, pluse many of the traps dont work to begin with because they are designed for dogs that pull the food off the counter, Misty alsmot never actually pulls food of the counter, she leaves it where it is and eats it there. double sided tape on the counter edges dont bother her, nor do spiky mats . I mean its not a serious problem anymore but I would like to have it stop completly one of these days lol

What does she counter surf on? Already prepared meals, or ingredients, or is it the bread and things like that? I read a book that talked about problems like this...if you try everything and everything fails, maybe you should change your own ways. Dogs are opportunists...maybe keep everything off the counters, and while your preparing a meal you could keep her in her crate (if she has one) or in a bedroom, or another part of the house.

You could also teach her the leave it command. Technically, even if you're gone, she shouldn't touch food even placed on the floor if you told her to leave it. (Technically )

There is this nifty thing that you set up, and it will let you know when your dog goes where it's not supposed to.

And then of course there are scat mats, and the option of electronic collars, depending on how desperate you are and how bad the situation gets.

    Good luck!

    Have you tried

Well I don't know if it will work or not, but I have always heard that if you put hot sauce or something that taste just as bad it will make the dog quite. I know it sound mean but as a last resort I guess it can be tried. good luck.

keep in mind my dogs are on a raw diet and eat differnt and sometimes not so tasty things on a regular basis, lots of the dogs will just spit things out they they dont like but even my Misty does not like the tast of something she will eat it anyway, she just eats it last rather then first lol
