Another dog training question

Has anyone trained their dog to go potty in a specific area of the yard? I have heard of people doing that, and I'd like to know how. Any ideas?

Walk your dog out on a leash EVERY time and use a specific phrase (like 'Go potty). This means no matter what the weather, or what else you moght have to do, you go out with the dog to the place you want them to go. After many trips, when you think they've got the idea, remove the leash when you get to the spot. If they 'go' where they should, praise like crazy. If they try to 'go' somewhere else, put the leash back on and lead them to the right spot.

One day you'll realize that they will always go in the right spot.

yah i think mruffruff is right. also i saw in petsmart something you put in you yard and the dog can smell it and will pee there. it looks like a yellow stake.

yes, agreed to both of them! I have also seen that yellow post..I thought about using it, seeing as I have a bigger yard!

Thanks for the ideas guys! I have never seen the yellow post, I'll have to look for that. Maybe if I do that, and take him out on a leash to that spot, between the two ideas I'll get him trained. Thanks!
