Brushing teeth?

I noticed Kodie's teeth are starting to get a little yellow,and i was wondering if brushing his teeth would help with that?He gets a dentabone and that helps clean it but it doesnt last.So does anyone brush there dogs teeth?and is it worth it?And if so,what kind should i get from Petsmart?
Or if theres anything else from making his teeth yellow?

Milk bones are supposed to be good and help keep their teeth clean.

I use a regular human toothbrush and water with Jesse, her teeth are pearly white now!

with my puppies use human toothbrushes with water too!! it works all my pups teeth are really white!!

While brushing their teeth won't get rid of all of his plaque, it will help prevent it from getting worse.

I use Finger Toothbrushes and Petrodex Toothpaste for my three.

I always brush my dogs' teeth even if they do get bones to chew on I use a regular human tooth brush, except it's one made for young kids so the brush on the end is a little softer and smaller than an adult brush. I also use a dental pick to get rid of all the plaque, not alot of people do that though so you don't have to but I find it helps quite a bit....

Kai and Kae get bones regularly and their teeth are great. I get recreational bones (big beef bones) for free and chicken bones (for meals) for a couple bucks a bag. Cheap and works wonderfully.

my puppies just licked down the doggy toothpaste, and closed their mouths while doing so. Must be yummy tasting stuff.

My previous dog had her teeth cleaned by the Vet at around age 5, and again at 8. If the gums are inflamed then it's time for the doggy hygienist to scrape the plaque off. This is done under anesthesia. It's a wise thing to consider since dental infections involving staph can easily spread to such places as the heart valves.

LOUD LOuie has a purple Scooby -Doo toothbrush and we use C.E.T Enzymatic Toothpaste, $6.95 a 2.5oz tube from his vet... the cats like it too...

For 6yrs. old, LOUD Louie has some pretty pearly whites according to his vet.

Guys don't make the same mistake i did. I had a beutiful english setter and at the time i didn't hear about brushing dog teeth, when my dog turned eight i was petting her on the head and every time i got behind or infront of her ear she would yelp, thinking it was no big deal i brought her in the vet. she was dignosed with a fast growing jaw cancer and that she had to be put down no change of saving her!!!! the reason why she got that cancer was me not brushing her teeth, the plague went right to her gums, causeing cancer plz, take this into concidation and start brushing teeth at puppy age!!!!!!

We didn't hear of brushing our dogs' teeth until a few years ago. Unfortunately Pepper was ten at the time and never had her teeth brushed. She has gum disease and rotting teeth. Its horrible and the dental bills for her are expensive. Never again will we go without brushing our dogs' teeth.

also didnt know just water and brush would work.
will have to give that a try.

you can go to your local vet and get some. petsmart works too. you can ask the ppl up front about wich one would work best with your breed of dog. if you have a small dog, it is nessecery to brush teeth, because they get teeth problems much easier. its good to brush the teeth anyway because it prevents diseases and cancers in the mouth. (which can be fatal) ALSO raw hide bones work good too. some dogs cant handle those so the brand GREENIES bones work well too.

Raw bones work really well -- they clean the teeth, they strengthen the jaws, they provide stimulation for a bored dog, and dogs love them! Raw bones are just as effective, if not more effective, than brushing the teeth. I do both to keep the teeth and gums healthy.
