    Starr's Vet Visit

Hi, I took my baby Starr to the vet today and he's very healthy except for the fact that he still has coccidia. I still have some Albon and I'm supposed to finish this off and then take in another stool sample. If he still has coccidia then the vet will try a different type of antibiotic on him. He said that for some reason he's seen a lot of resistant coccidia cases and the animals have to be treated several times before it's cleared up.

Starr was a cry baby in the car but as soon as we walked into the vets office he quieted down and was a very good little boy. He was purring like crazy until he saw the vet because the vet scared him but he was still very good. On the way home I took him to a grooming school to have his nails trimmed and he was a little scared but a very good boy. Everyone who has met him falls in love with him. I sure do love my baby Starr.

Well it good that he is healthy aside from that old coccidia. And he sure is a cutie so I can see why everyone falls in love with him. Let hope the rest of the Albon kicks the coccidia to the crub and he can be all done with the meds. Keep us updated. And enjoy your new furbaby. Don't forget lots of pics

I forgot to mention that he still only weighs 2.35lbs and he's 3 and 1/2 months old so he's still very tiny. A little while after I got home, I noticed that Starr sneezed. I didn't think anything of it but I was just playing with him again and he sneezed several more times. I sure hope that it's nothing.

    Such a sweetheart.
Just an added thing about coccidia being pesky. Give Starr some plain non fat yogart on a daily basis, we used Dannon. The yogart replaces the bad bacterias with good.

He's utterly adorable! Many fellow rescuers are echoing the resistant coccidea curse this year, and have found that upping the dosage of Albon kicks it out quicker. Hope the sneezes are nothing.

    Starr-baby!

You're beautiful! I just love those big blue eyes !! will you always have blue eyes or is it just because you're a little kitten? You remind me of my Siamese girls when they were babies.(They still have their blue eyes) I hope you get over this annoying little problem soon. Take your medicine and eat up your yoghourt (it's yummy, you'll like it)

Thanks. He's a flamepoint siamese mix so yes he'll always have his pretty blue eyes. He doesn't have coccidia any more but now he has ringworm. I noticed this a little over a week ago so he's now back with his foster mom. I just received another e-mail from his foster mom and his ringworm is starting to look better. Hopefully he'll be able to come home soon.

Hi again, thanks for your reply. Siamese are so special, aren't they? I know all cats are, and there are so many I find especially appealing, yet having lived with Siamese for 16 years now, I can't imagine life without them. Our Catmandu has about five - must get a little noisy at his place sometimes! I just brought Colette home from her dentistry (3 out and cleaning) and I thought she'd be a bit more placid driving home than going, what with the anaesthetic. No way! Yowled all the way home with that deep throaty sound they have.

Glad Starr is seemingly on the mend and can come home to you soon. You must miss him so much! Look forward to seeing more pictures when he is older to see how the points develop as I'm not sure what a flame-point is - orangey-red coloured points maybe? Meanwhile, I'm happy to stop every time I catch his picture as I scroll through the threads, he is just captivating Get well and come home soon, Starr!!

Tracey, I had missed the part about the ringworm. I hope he's healing up nicely and can come home soon. He is a darling thing and it always makes me wonder if that is how Butter looked when he was a baby. It has always been guessed that Butter is a least partially Flame Point Siamese too.

I saw your signature that said "Starr is gone for awhile" and I got so worried. I'm glad he's getting better and I hope he can be back home with the rest of you soon.

Thanks. I'm hoping that I'll be able to finally bring him soon and that this time it's for good.

Do you hear about Starr? How he is? I have no experience with ringworm so I have no idea how long it takes.

I haven't heard anything about him lately so I need to e-mail his foster mom this weekend. On Monday she said that she thought he was looking better but she didn't want to jinx anything. She was also ordering some different kind of medicine for the ringworm. It's the same kind that another foster is using and she's having great success with it. My vet said it could take as long as 4 months for everything to be gone. I've also heard that the ringworm is contagious when it's dry and flaky so I may be able to bring him home after they find out that he's not contagious. I sure do miss him.

There are two things that our rescue group uses: Trezaderm, which is Rx only, and Lamisil, which is athlete's foot medicine! I didn't try the Lamisil two years ago.

I'm glad to hear that precious Starr is doing better.
My gosh though I didn't know that ringworm could take as long as 4 months for everything to be gone. Poor kitty and poor you.
I can understand how you are missing him so.

Prayers on the way that you and Starr will be together again very soon and that you will never have to miss him again.
