this is a purebred weim! it's a blue longhaired weimaraner. is this just another poorly bred dog like the merle chihuahua?

I saw a bunch of long-haired Weims at a show over the weekend. I'm pretty sure that dog is a PB. The whole selling dogs over the internet is horrible, but at LEAST they're testing their dogs and selling on spay/neuter contracts. That is a lot more than hundreds of other puppy-selling sites :/

It's a new breed. I have no clue if it's just poorly bred.

There are long haired Weims aswell as blue Weims, but I think this dog's entire body shape is much too stocky to be purebred IMO.... They're not a new breed, they've been around for a pretty long time now.

It's not a new breed just a long haired weim. I think colour is a little off but ya there is such thing the other ones are more popular though I guess.

The long-haired Weimaraner is a legitimate breed, just less common, especially around here. The color of the photo looks like it has been altered anyway, it looks darker than many Weims I've seen, but that could be just the photo. And yes, the dog looks stocky, but it could be an older dog who has put on weight, we know nearly nothing about it. Do not make assumptions about bad breeding just because of one picture!

    Ahh...controversy galore!

    Go nuts :
    http://www.weimclubamerica.org/world.../contents.html

Please note: Members of the WCA voted against adding the LH Weimaraner into the American standard. The LH coat is a disqualifying fault in the United States. The LH is a natural recessive gene in the Weimaraner and is not a disqualifying fault in many other countries. In the international spirit of this web site, we continue to offer this information. This article is for educational purposes only and does not constitute approval of the longhaired Weimaraner by the Weimaraner Club of America.

    Ah, exactly.

There ARE long haired weimeraners, in a litter of Weims you can have both long and short haired varieties, one just isn't "standard".

I've seen long-haired Weims like that before, they come in more standards besides short-hair. That is definetly a purebred weim.

I agree with you. I'm no expert on dogs, but that dog looks almost golden retriever-like to me! The dog is cute though and I bet a purebred LH weim is magnificent
