This Week - In Kelly's Health Chronicals

I'm such a dork....good thing I can laugh about this, huh?

I went down to Cedars-Sinai again today to talk about and try and schedule my surgery. (resection)

My doctor was really great and positive about everything. He ordered some lab work that was done in the office and asked me to participate in a world-wide study they are working on to find the cause of IBD. I gladly gave viles of blood...hopefully they can figure something out in the coming years for future generations. Unfortunately, my veins didn't feel as charitable! Due to my recent and repetitive hospital stays, my once amazing veins are now tiny, stubborn veins and it now takes lots of trys with the BEST nurses. It hurts and it makes me so light-headed, but its for a good cause and were also my pre-surgical tests.

So, I have the name of the "best" surgeon that does this surgery at Cedars...I spoke with my employer and all I have to do now is schedule a colonoscopy (YIPPEE!!!!) the day I meet with my sergeon down at Cedars. My specialist feels he needs to see what my ilium looks like (section they are cutting) before surgery considering I haven't had one since 2003. You know I'm psyched about that!! ha ha

Next, I'll schedule my surgery for EARLY August. It'll be a 5 day hospital stay and a month of recovery. I have a note from my specialist and consent from my employer to come back to work in September.

Everyone is being supportive...thank God for that. I think this is the thing that will get me healthy...I really do.

OK, I'll update more when I know more. I'll need prayers for that colonoscopy. I've had one before, but not at Cedars. I'm sure it'll be JUST FINE, but you always worry a bit before stuff like this. My specialist ensured me I'd be asleep...thank God for that.

    Hugs,
    Kelly

    xoxo

Kelly, it is just my prayer that all that you have to go through will be the beginning of pain free living.

Will you be at Cedars for the surgery? Hmmm, I could come and terrorize you - Cedar's isn't far from me at all!

I have IBS as well, and once my insurance at work kicks in I'll be getting both that and my endo treated asap, and tons of dental work! Definitely not looking forward to it though, but it's something that needs to be done. I hope all goes well and I will be praying for a speedy recovery and pain free living for you soon Kelly.

    Kelly,

I do hope they find out the problem. I do not envy you having to go through a colonoscopy. The procedure itself isn't anything cuz you're asleep, but the preparation SUCKS!!!

I'll be thinking about you honey! Please let us know how you make out.

Kelly - good luck with the colonoscopy! I'm going in for a laporoscopy, this month... and I sure wish I could be in such good spirits as you!!! I'm terrified, as I've never been "under" before... but, hopefully they'll find what's wrong, and that's all that matters!

So, good luck to you, I shall keep my fingers crossed for you, hopefully you'll soon be healthy!

Best wishes, Sylvie, KS' mom (where is that little bugger? Probably trying to eat my unhealthy fish...)

Isn't THAT the truth Donna!! I had one last year and the thought of it was so scary. I was also sedated for mine and don't remember anything except *seeing* the hose they use Afterwards, they laughed and told me how I used my favorite word when they started (S##T!!) which I thought was appropriate

Kelly, I also wish you the best in your attempts to get the disease under control and getting a chance to meet your career goals. You can do it!! Things are looking up! YAY!

    Kelly,

I sure hope that your colonoscopy goes well. I know the prep is worse than the actual procedure. I hope that they are able to finally do something to make you healthy and pain free. I am glad that everyone, including your work are being undertstanding and supportive. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but I heard something on the news this morning regarding Birth Control and Crohn's, I didn't hear the whole segment, but may be worth finding out more info regarding the 2.

Best of luck to you and best wishes on your procedures and prayers for a speedy recovery!

    Amanda

Kelly, Lots of good vibes and positive thoughts coming for your upcoming colonoscopy. I know they are super fun. Hey I know when you schedule yours schedule one for me too and we can be colonoscopy buddies. Well it's a good thing anyway that you will be asleep. I can't image being awake for something like that. You keep us all updated. And we are all hoping and praying that is will be the start of a painfree and healthy life for you. Lots of luck sweetie.

    {{{hugs}}}
