I'm such a dork....good thing I can laugh about this, huh?
I went down to Cedars-Sinai again today to talk about and try and schedule my surgery. (resection)
My doctor was really great and positive about everything. He ordered some lab work that was done in the office and asked me to participate in a world-wide study they are working on to find the cause of IBD. I gladly gave viles of blood...hopefully they can figure something out in the coming years for future generations. Unfortunately, my veins didn't feel as charitable!Due to my recent and repetitive hospital stays, my once amazing veins are now tiny, stubborn veins and it now takes lots of trys with the BEST nurses. It hurts and it makes me so light-headed, but its for a good cause and were also my pre-surgical tests.
So, I have the name of the "best" surgeon that does this surgery at Cedars...I spoke with my employer and all I have to do now is schedule a colonoscopy (YIPPEE!!!!) the day I meet with my sergeon down at Cedars. My specialist feels he needs to see what my ilium looks like (section they are cutting) before surgery considering I haven't had one since 2003. You know I'm psyched about that!!ha ha
Next, I'll schedule my surgery for EARLY August. It'll be a 5 day hospital stay and a month of recovery. I have a note from my specialist and consent from my employer to come back to work in September.
Everyone is being supportive...thank God for that.I think this is the thing that will get me healthy...I really do.
OK, I'll update more when I know more. I'll need prayers for that colonoscopy. I've had one before, but not at Cedars. I'm sure it'll be JUST FINE, but you always worry a bit before stuff like this. My specialist ensured me I'd be asleep...thank God for that.
Hugs,
Kelly
