    well i took your advice...

i went a got another kitten, when i looked at the new one he was very playful and sweet, the whole way home he was purring and kneading. As soon as we got home and he saw the other kitten he starting growling and hissing, my other kitten (the shy one) went right up to him and starting checking him out in a playful manner which really surprised me, the boy doesn't want anything to do with me or the girl kitten now! she keeps on trying to get close to it but he wont stop hissing at her. the couple i got the new one from told me if for any reason it didn't work out than i could take him back. the male was playing with other pets when i went to look at him. oh and by the way the female(elle) is much more accepting to me know and i was petting her when she was on her bed and she started purring for the first time! so main question is...how long should i give it, i don't want there to be a fight and one of them get hurt but from the looks of it elle really wants a playmate.
    ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!

How long ago did you get her new playmate? It could take a couple weeks or so. They are kittens so it will probably not be that long. One thing I would do is get a towel and rub newbie with it and then rub Elle with the same towel. It will transfer the scent from your new kitten onto Elle and he will probably accept her more easily.

Yes it will take a couple of weeks and sometimes more. You just have to be patient with them getting to know each other. Since they are both kittens, they will soon be best friends! Older cats are a little harder than kittens, and takes a bit more time. They will probably have an occasional spat and that's normal, but since they are kittens they wont hurt each other, they are just setting some ground rules right now. They can be quite volcal at this time, but that's all it is, so dont worry, I'm sure things will work out for them! Good Luck!
