What is it with you Californians and Poison Oak!

I just started working on a new account (medical transcription). The account is a group of clinics out in California (Sonora area). I'm doing a lot of ER reports, and I swear I have never seen so many cases of poison oak! At times it seems like every other report is a case of poison oak, sometimes many in a row! So what is it with Californians and poison oak?

Thankfully I have not had it but it is pretty common out here.
