Do Your Pets All Get Along?

I have 2 cats and 1 dog and I have to admit the phrase "fighting like cats and dogs" does not apply. It is true that the dog (who is a puppy) pesters the cats but it is her plan to get them to play. Not gonna happen! The cats are very relaxed even with all of this prodding and they lay on their backs (very vulnerable position) when she comes over and starts nibbling on their ears. Frequently they suffer from a new condition called "puppy saliva head." Every now and then there is a kitty swipe but it is really only half-hearted. Only one time did Andy turn the tables and go after her, galloping through the house. Thank God they do get along. I would have been a basket case if it hadn't worked out!

my dogs and cats get alone just fine. accually my dogs get very mad when other dogs chase my cats and when other cats attack them.
But my two males dogs Herc and Zeus get it real bad dog fights every once and a while. usally over an object like food.

Everyone says yah right when I tell them that my beagle and my cat are best friends (they think that a beagle would chase and hunt a cat) so I have taken pictures to prove that they really do love each other.

This is Hannah(beagle)and Simba(cat) playing just a couple days after I brought Hannah home.

This is Hannah and Simba all snuggles at age three (Hannah) and Seven (Simba)

And this is them co-operating with me in the fields for a once in a lifetime photo op. (sorry its a little dark)

Hannah also gets along with my other hound Copper, my sisters boston terrier puppy and my many birds and rabbits.

Copper my other hound who is four years old and came to me last year from an abusive home doesn't hurt my cat, rabbits or birds.

So now when people say yah right I have photos to prove it

Pam what breed is your puppy ? Your puppy and cats will be the best of friend for life. Take pics cause some people wont believe you

Your pics really make me feel better. I have 3 cats and as soon as circumstances will allow it, I want to adopt a dog. I was a bit worried because I don't want any of them to suffer and I would never give any of them up.

Both Hannah and Simba are adorable, I just love the second photo!

OH MY GOD THOSE PICS ARE SO ADORABLE!!!! The photos of Hannah and Simba playing and hanging out together are so cute I can't stand it. The outdoors shot is just fabulous. How in the world did you get them to pose like that? Anyway, thanks. You have made my day.

Now if only my two cats would be so loving towards each other. I'm jealous of you, Ilovehounds! You are so lucky your pets get along. I'm still waiting and hoping for a breakthrough with kitty 1 & 2. It will happen some day, I know...

Ilovehounds, as usual your photos are fantastic. Daisy and Perry get along wonderfully, in the morning Perry goes outside first and then Daisy and he waits for her to come out and kisses her. During the day while they are resting Daisy licks and cleans Perrys ears. But, they absolutely do not get along with other dogs, no matter how hard we try to socialize them, it just does not work. They don't like too many people either, I don't know if this is a Schnauzer thing or what!

Awwwwww is right!! These pictures are great!! Cats have a bad rap sometimes as being hunters (which they are) but they also have a sweet side. It all depends on their relationship to man and how well they have been domesticated I guess.

Margaret I am hoping for Saima and Miko to one day get along and groom each other and cuddle together and just be best friends. I think it will happen! When it does, don't forget to post a picture!

"thelmalu99" that pic is adorable Turtles are one animal that scares Hannah so bad she runs into the house. I don't know why, we do have alot of snapping turtles around so she may have gotten a bit close and got snaped once ??????? That is why I don't have one as a pet. I would like one reading posts on here they seem like great pets.

"Gio" I don't think adopting a dog would be to much of a problem, aslong as you get a dog that has had a history with cats (the shelter workers usually know) it would take a bit for the cats to get use to the dog.

My sister also has two cats and our cats range in age from 3-7 years and we have brought in three dogs Hannah as a puppy, Copper at three years and just recently my sister got a boston terrier puppy and they didn't mind at all, there has been no fighting with any of them.

Im glade you all like the pics, I want to be a pet photographer so I have alot of pictures around. I use Hannah , Copper, and Simba for practice. They don't mind, Hannah loves going for walks to find great backdrops and getting her pic taken, the pic with Hannah and Simba posing on the rock took awhile but the shot turned out great and it was worth the effort

LOVED the pictures of the dog and cat, and the cat and the turtle.
For the most part my 5 cats and 1 dog get along well. The three older cats have bonded against the younger two, but all 5 will sleep together in the same room.
The dog mostly just ignores all the cats.
