Sirrah family thanks you for prayers!

Thank you to everyone for the prayers and support that we asked for as Dennis flew to Texas to be with his dying father last Monday, 10/25. The death was LONG, but his dad finally slipped peacefully away just this morning 10/31 and the family is very relieved and everyone is getting along well. Hopefully, I will have my hubby home with me again in just a few days!!
Thank you all so very much!

((((((Dennis)))))) So sorry for your loss! I know, no matter how prepared you think you are, it is always hard when you loose a parent. My thought and prayers will be with you and your family today. Matthew5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Deb, my heart goes out to you and your husband in this loss.

I know that Dennis will be happy to be back home with you too, in just a few days.

In all that he has tried to do for everyone else, the fact remains that he has lost HIS father and it wasn't any easier for him.

May his father rest now, in peace.

gini - I really appreciate your comments SOOO much. I think he has just been so focused on mediating, that he has had no time to grieve and you are exactly right about that.
On the other hand - I am up here in Ohio - also trying to keep calm and strong for my husband - and now that his father is gone, I am finding that now *I* am starting to crumble, feel angry at the family for being so difficult, aggravated that my husband is always the calm and stable one. I guess perhaps now it is MY turn to be selfish.

One thing he and I discussed during this time is the urgency of prepaying and settling all of our death and burial arrangements just as soon as he is back in town. We know what we want and need to finalize our plans - to avoid the mess that he has had to deal with down in Texas.

Our beliefs are very simple - we are Christians and neither of us desire a funeral, only a Gospel message for the living at church with no dead bodies present. We want to be cremated.

Again - thank you for your most thoughtful comments! All of the calm and strength he has presented down there does not remove the fact that he has indeed lost HIS dad. He will come home and need his time for private grieving, although I know most of it has been done in advance since the illness was so long. He says he feels very much at peace - just very exhausted and wants to come home.

Debbie, you are welcome for any thoughts that I have had that could help you both.

I feel that I can relate to your situation due to the circumstances surrounding my own father's passing. At the time, I had a stepmother - and we were not close. She was a very controlling person and made life just pure hell.

I have a half brother and we are very close. I have never considered him "half" of anything - he is my brother.

Something so strange happened the morning my Dad passed away. He was in a convalescent care home. It was Thanksgiving morning. When they tried to reach my stepmother, her telephone was not working. So they called my brother.

And it was from my brother that I heard Dad had passed away. It was just so much easier on me to hear it from him and not having it barked out to me by my stepmother.

Later in the day - they could find absolutely nothing wrong with my stepmother's phone. I have always liked to believe that there was just some divine intervention going on that morning.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard to loose somebody that you love dearly, but I know that you and your family will make it through together.

My condolences to you and your family. Sorry, I just don't have any inspiring words right now. I know what it's like to lose a Father. May he RIP. Prayers coming your way.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
