I think I was so very lucky 14 years ago when I went to the pound one HOT day in January. Well there he was a 6 yr old Border Collie / Blue Heeler Cross. They said that his name was "Booker" after the 21 jump street tv show. The only problem that we were going to have to worry about was the Cat.
Well we took him home to meet the cat. He took one look at the cat and jumped into my lap. I thought to myself, "What kind of dog are you?". He never has answered to the name Booker. When I said "Pooka" one day his eyes lit up and he got excited so That's his name now.
He was hit by a truck about 8 years ago now. Took about 6 weeks and 2 operations to recover. He is on some capsules that are mad from Sharks to help his joints. He has a "Young Pup",11 yr old Min. Bull Terrier Named Sydney after the city he came from, as a friend. Lives on 5 acres of Forest/Bush. Comes inside whenever he wants and eats 2 times a day a homemade meal of Kangaroo and Spuds.
He still thinks he is a puppy sometimes and I guess he will always be one to me. He has helped me more than anyone else ever could. Good days and Bad he was always there for me. I'd like to think that I will always be there for him as well.
I'd just like to say when that little voice inside you tells you to take an animal in do it. You might just get the best friend you've ever had.
Best Wishes to all
