Cat is almost out the door

This darn cat..I took him in as a stray when he was young..he is about 8 years old now.He never pissed or pooped on the floor..But lately he has been pissing on baskets of clothes and pooping in front of the litter box..We took him to the vet and he couldnt find anything wrong. We hadnt changed litter, we got a new kitten but he was doing it before the new kitten. He is one piss away from being an outside cat..I am tired of it and am not an animal mind reader...I am afraid he will get hurt outside, But I am tired of the pissing..He has claws and is a rather large cat.So maybe he will be ok..Unless an automobile gets him..and I dont want that either.

How long has this been going on? Is he neutered? With what do you clean the spots where he's "marked" inside?

Please check that you have the right number of litter trays etc by reading these links.

Have you taken him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a Urinary Tract Infection??

Please don't throw kitty outside!!! There are all kinds of dangers outside--other cats, dogs, CARS. Have you tried putting him on medication for the peeing?

Since Hunter has only started doing this for the past 6 months - I am wondering if it is not related to the new kitten. How lomg have you had the new-comer? He may have started it slightly before while sensing the preparations and new smells if you had been visiting shelters or whatever.

Did the vet check for urinary tract infection? They would have had to express a urine sample or withdrawn it with a needle.

Again, with a new kitty there, he may need for you to add another box (this was probably covered in the links Pif supplied)

Poor Hunter - just try and think like him and maybe you can see what he is trying to tell you - assuming there are no medical problems.

I think Resolve is a stain remover right? You may need to get some Nature's Miracle or some sort of similar enzyme cleaner to neutralize and eliminate the remaining scent.

Down the road, if it continues - there are always medications to try. How frustrating this must be!!

We didnt visit any shelters..we found the kitten outside on day.I wrent outside and found my Rott s playing with it.But Hunter was doing this way before we got the new Kitten.

Yes the vet used a needle and checked his urinary tract..Found nothing wrong

I am going to get another litter box tomorrow

I'll ask the wife about the cleaner

I have thought of giving him some meds

My boyfriends cat, Abby, started peeing on my bed. Didn't matter if I was in bed or not, if I was, well, guess what! I was really really mad. I could not wash sheets every day. She lost her bedroom privledges, and it stopped. But if your kitten is doing it everywhere, you cant shut him out of the area. Our vet put Abby on Clavamox (sp?), and it seemed to help the prob. She lives at Nick's mom's now, and hasn't peed anywhere but the litterbox and the occasional bathtub pee. So, whether it was the meds or she just quit, I really don't know. Whatever it was it worked! Good luck with Hunter!

    Thank GOD!
    Poor Hunter.
Fur children do things for a REASON. If he was going outside his litter box he had a reason.
PLEASE keep in touch an dlet us know how Hunter is doing.

    Blessings,
    Momma Cat.... Deb
