    Red mange

Puppy mange, Demodex mange. A good therapy is oral Ivermectin - same active ingredient in Heartguard. It may take 3-6 weeks to get rid of the mites. Supplementing the diet with Fish oil, and Vitamin-E (dry form) will help the skin rejuvenate itself.

If your dog is a puppy it can occur as a result of an immature immune system combined with some recent stress. My male puppy first got Kennel Cough, and about a week later the mites came up.

If your dog is an adult then you need to also find out why the immune system is suppressed, and have follow up tests performed. It could indicate a metabolic disease condition, or even cancer.

Normally a dog's immune system is able to keep the mites in check. There is an immune genetic defect affecting the dog's T-cells, that will result in Demodex mange. When this occurs the dog may have problems fighting off the Demodex mites, and it may become severe, and/or reoccur regularly.
