Just thought I would post here so the lady can get more advice of other people, not many people visit the other Cat Forums.

You know I had never thought of it, but Shadow poops outside the box on an almost daily basis. I never stopped to think it might be due to her declawing--unfortunately and how I deeply regret it to this day, I allowed my mother to have her declawed at over a year old (she's six now). She is extremely sweet still, but I never noticed her pooping issues until after we had her claws removed.

We simply gave up on her always pooping in the box She acts like she is terrified of it, and always runs out of the box leaving one present behind. She does seem to do this when she is upset with either Whisper or myself--she can be very creative in her ways to get back at us. LOL

I forgot to mention that I have had x-rays done on the cats' paws to rule out nail issues and have to agree with PIF that you should do that before you think it is all behavioral. Shadow does have behavioral issues, but besides pooping outside the box, she also pees on the floor when she is angry or will poop/vomit on the couch when we go on vacation. I love her far too much to ever get rid of her; we took on the responsibility to be her owners and I know no one else would want to put up with a problem cat. Taking her to the pound would never be allowed; as problem cats are often put to sleep right away. Please, please take your kitty to the vet to rule out declawing issues. If it is behavioral, there are medications the cat can be put on.
