    Pics from my husband's accident...

A few pics from Mike's crash just came back. He (Photographer Gary Rather) got the before and after but not the actual crash. I *think* I would have liked to see the crash itself. He's #942...

    The turn before:

Coming into the corner that he crashed in:

Then crawling off of the track before he gets ran over:

If you look closely, you can see his face shield is missing and his helmet is crooked and cracked in the back. His head got banged up pretty good.

    The paramedics helping him away...

As I'd posted in a previous thread, he got pretty lucky for as fast as he was going...This was the worst of it, nothing was broken:

    Thank you Wolfie!

His foot looks awful, but rather his foot than
    his head.

I think you need to wallpaper the garage with these photos as a reminder of what could happen if ever he gets the urge to start biking again! OWIE!

I don't think there's a doubt he'll bike again, most people that participate in those kinds of sports know the inherent danger involved, but, will continue to do it until they are physically no longer able to. Those are fantastic photos of him racing, though, it's personally one of my favorite sports to watch. Glad your husband is ok, tonya. And, thanks for posting the pics of the race!

Actually, this has been one of his better wrecks injury wise. The worst was Jan 2000. It was before we lived together. He wrecked and then drove himself home. His roomates woke up in the middle of the night and he was having convulsions. His internal injuries were so bad that they had to put his organs in mesh nets to keep them together and remove his spleen. He spent some time in the hospital and lost a ton of weight. He looked like a skeleton when he got out. He sold everything he had and said he'd never touch a bike again. By April of 2000, he had a new bike and had to go out and buy all new gear.

Last year, he was turning a corner in an intersection near our house and somehow wrecked. (Probably showing off.) He slid across the busy intersection Superman style and luckily none of the cars hit him. He had hurt pride and some road rash but that was it.

Earlier this season, he got into a really bad one. He was thrown in the air tumbled several hundreds of feet. He was able to walk away from it because it was really muddy that day and he'd landed off of the asphault.

He's gotten into a few other small ones too.

I WISH he'd take up fishing or something. This gets sooo expensive and old! The day after this accident he started ordering replacement parts for his bike.

    Thank you Wolfie!

OUWEY< OUWEY .... that brings back painful memories of when I broke my foot in two places about 4 years ago. It looked just like that, and after 9 months of casts, braces, etc... I had to have surgery. It ended up being a year long ordeal.

I am so thankful that your hubby didn't get hurt any more seriously than he did ..... give him extra huggies!!!
