    Need Advice!

I had a question...I hope someone can help!

Whenever it gets cold, my joints swell up and I hurt all over. Its like an achy flu type hurt too. It was annoying last winter and this winter it seems as if it has gotten worse Im only 22 and Id hate to think it was something like arthritis! My hands are the worst, then my back and shoulders and then my ankles. My knees seem ok (they pop a lot though). Is there anything I can do outside of going to the doctor? I can't take anything with acetometiphine (sp?) in it (I have a bad reaction to it)

When my hands hurt it affects my work, as I am in front of a computer all day. I could hardly walk yesterday, today is better but I still feel really sore.

Sorry if I come off as whiny but this really hurts and its starting to make me worry.

I am sorry you are hurting...

I get achy when winter comes also. I always just take 500 mg tylenol my doctor gave me. Can you take naproxin? I dont really have any advice, other than pills, hot baths and icyhot.. It helps me. I hope you feel better Hannah says she can come over and keep Remus busy, so he wont disturb your sleep *read other post on cat general* lol *hugs* feel better soon

    Thank you so much Michelle!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you have a family history of arthritis you really should get yourself into see a MD soon. The longer it goes untreated the more permanent damage it will do to your joints.

In the mean time, try the naproxen or advil (make sure to take with food). Try hot compresses, etc.

This is going to sound strange, but I used to have the same problem with my hands when I lived in a colder climate. I used to wear a pair of those thin knit gloves when I was at the computer. It kept my hands warm and I was able to keep working.

That IS a good idea, I might have to try that. My hands always feel better when they are warm. My family has no history of arthritis, all of my mom and dads joint pain come from places theyve been injured. I was in competition fighting for a while and got really banged up doing it. I also injured my ankles in softball and really messed up my back in military school *I AM a klutz lol*

Maybe I just have never healed corectly. I never did go to the doctor for any of my injuries, Id hate to see what X rays would reveal!

    A. Tell your doctor.
    B. Keep your joints warm. My hips ache to beat the band if they get cold!
    I hope you feel better.
