A Rescue Done In The Knick Of Time!!!

I got a call two days ago from the new animal control officer in the next town over. Mike must have got my number from the former ACOs, who I worked with several years ago initiating a TNR program for the large feral population that had been building. Mike left a message on my answering machine stating he had a semi-emergency with a 'feral' he had trapped the night prior. This cat is actually an abandoned one that I had spotted last winter, but was unable to get her at the time. She had a litter early summer, and three kittens were grabbed up by the neighbors around there, the fouth unaccounted for. I wasn't going to trap the cat until I knew what had happened to her 4th kitten, but no one was talking. To make a long story short...she's here now at long last! Carla (catfamily) knows this girl as well. Here's the ACO's emergency situation!

He had no idea she was pregnant! And he caught her (in a horrible 2 door Havahart) just the night before. He went to check on her and voila' four brand new babies were in the crate he set her up in! He thought she was feral, but I knew differently.

A very contented mama and her sweet little newborns.

I told this kitty (in my head anyway) that I wasn't going to let her stay out during this coming winter. It's amazing she made it through last winter especially when one night it dropped to minus 8 degrees! Now she's safe and secure. The so called feeder I'm sure is pitching a fit because she's gone now, but tough! All she did was provide a crummy dish of dry food once in a while! Gorgeous and happy mama.

That is so wonderful she was rescued in time. The momma cat is so pretty. I love her markings. Her kittens are colorful too. I am so glad to hear that there are people like you taking care and watching out for these great and innosant animals. Good Job.

She is very sweet, and happy to have a warm dry place to nurse her last litter to be. I heard she had the previous litter in a foundation, where no one could reach them till they were old enough to come out on their own. She growled for the first day, but now has let her guard down, and purrs away. She does look like a grownup version of Lizzie!

Mama cat's been officially named "Madeline"! I first saw her little paw prints during the winter coming out from under this sweet senior citizen's deck, and so in honor of my client Madeline L, the kittie's been dubbed Madeline as well. I think it's fitting for such a sweet kitty. P.S I'm glad she's warm and safe now, as it's truly a fall day weather wise BRRRR!!

What a blessing for Madeline that she was rescued just in the nick of time! She is a really beautiful kitty and her babies are precious. I'm sure it won't take her long to realize that she is going to be loved and well cared for. She has to be happy that her babies are warm and dry and the food is plentiful.
She does look like a grown up Lizzie!!
    Another amazing job by Jan!!
