if u ride often u might want to be alert when well only if your parent or someone that helps u.ok,well when then have only a lead rope on and they give it to u tell then no because when my dad did that my horse went wild and i could not stop her with just a lead rope so just to let u know .

All you have to do is let go of the lead rope, if you have a proper lead rope, the metal buckle should break under a certain amount of force, so the horse can get away. If you do not have a correct break away lead rope, simply let go of the lead rope.
