GRRRRR unwanted critters in my fish tanks again!!!

Well I was makinf Jack a NEW safe house away from Oscars bitting jaws, when I saw that the EVIL red worms were back again... sigh...

I hadn't seen the damn things all summer long & I look for them every feeding, which is about every 3 days.

& I found leach like critters in Mango's tank!!!! I've never seen them before, so they r new critter to me. They were only at the top of the water line, so when I drained the water 1/2 way they couldn't move fast enough, so I wiped them up, dodging Mangos sharp teeth...

    Stupid evil critters

Any luck getting rid of the critters? When Dad had oscars, he had the same problem

I have 3 O's and have never seen these things. What are they? Do you use something like Clout to get rid of them?

The critters in my dads tank (red wormies) came from a cruddy batch of food, don't remember how he got rid of them though.

    I don't recall having leech-like things though!!!

How do you get rid of those? Seems like they would irritate the crud out of the poor fishies

The worms don't bother the fish at all. they r mostly at the bottom of the tank feeding on left over food (Oscar eats like a messy pig, so she messes up her tank.)

I try Mardel to see if it would help. My fish guy said he hasn't found away to get rid of them, but only control them. I'm his second case ever with them & they r only in Oscars tank & not in the pond & I dump Oscars tank water into the pond weekly. I know why they don't last in the pond. I have goldfish & swordfish in there that will feed on them.

These leach like critters so far r only on the tank glass & at the water line. I looked at Mango's head & saw nothing & he's in perfect health.

Can u ask ur dad what he used to kill the red worms?? I really hate sticking my hands in the water & getting them on me, they r gross. BUT I know hot water kills them, but I don't know about u. But I'm not boiling Oscar & Jack alive hehehe

Jess, have you been to Oscar Fish.com ? They have tons of people registered there who know all there is to know about fish. Maybe they would know how to get rid of these worms once and for all.
