    Pics from our hiking trip

David and I packed up the pups and headed out to Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge today. It turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous fall day today, with lots of sun and a wonderful breeze. Not a soul was around so we let the pups drag their leashes so they had a bit of freedom but we could still pick up their leashes if anyone came around. Both of them are flawlessly behaved about coming when called and staying close to us. They love to run up a few feet, stop and wait or come running back to escort us to where they were.

We all had a wonderful time and I thought I'd share a few of the pics I got. I didn't get any particularly spectacular shots but I like some of them.

They started to go up the wrong trail here and I called them back, they were so gleeful:

Waiting while Mom and Dad decide which trail to take:

Tommy's drool from panting foams a bit and when he shook his head some went onto his face

Deep in the denser woods, all the spruce trees have no needles on the lower limbs and the forest floor has no plants except a green thick moss covering the ground and mushrooms here and there. It was very pretty.

A deer footprint in the sand

Happy girl coming back to check on us

    Tommy waiting for us

    Tasha escorting Daddy

Prairie area. The sun was glaring a bit on the lens so the picture is a bit washed out.

    More prairie land

Where it gets more colorful is a marshy swamp area. Of course Tommy waded into it up to his elbows (we called him out before he could go any further). I didn't have the camera on at that point and just got this picture from afar.

    Few more next post.

Tommy waiting at the other side of a bridge that went over a marsh area.

Ok one pic of me and the pups although it's not a very flattering picture of me, the sun was in my eyes and my hair looks really dark for some reason, probably the way the shadows are and because I have it pulled back in a ponytail. I also had my jacket tied around my waist along with the hip pack with the doggie stuff.

    At a rest area

    Tommy getting a drink

    Tongue hanging out

I really like this one of Tasha. She hated the rest stops though, she whined and fretted till we got up and got going again

Excited girl cause we're getting up and walking again

    Getting ready to go home!

And that's all! Hope I didn't bore you all

What great pics Jess! And what a gorgeous day; the scenery is magnificent...a little bit of everything, marsh, prarie, forest It's plain by the looks on all your faces, everyone had a wonderful day! I swear the "kids" were smiling! And I think their mommy looked especially pretty Some of the shots are especially beautiful...I loved the one of Tommy at the bridge and Tasha on the prarie; she looks like a fawn scampering in the prarie grass! Was that a deer print you? Looked like one to me! I'm so glad a good time was had by all. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! Love and hugs to the puppers...bet they're pooped

Oh yes you did! All of them! I can't even pick a favorite! What a beautiful "family" day you had! Our weather was much the same today but we just did yard work. I would have much rather spent it like you did! I am envious of you being able to let their leashes drag. If I let Ripley's drag he would be in Montana in about a week! LOL!

Thank you all . Sandra yes that was a deer print, it was actually a pretty big print, I should have put my hand by it or something to get a size comparison.

I just love going hiking with David and the pups. It's hard to imagine feeling more content and happy than when we're out hiking on a nice day like today was. For the pups it is just an incredibly exciting and fun adventure!
