David and I packed up the pups and headed out to Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge today. It turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous fall day today, with lots of sun and a wonderful breeze. Not a soul was around so we let the pups drag their leashes so they had a bit of freedom but we could still pick up their leashes if anyone came around. Both of them are flawlessly behaved about coming when called and staying close to us. They love to run up a few feet, stop and wait or come running back to escort us to where they were.
We all had a wonderful time and I thought I'd share a few of the pics I got. I didn't get any particularly spectacular shots but I like some of them.
They started to go up the wrong trail here and I called them back, they were so gleeful:
Waiting while Mom and Dad decide which trail to take:
Tommy's drool from panting foams a bit and when he shook his head some went onto his face
Deep in the denser woods, all the spruce trees have no needles on the lower limbs and the forest floor has no plants except a green thick moss covering the ground and mushrooms here and there. It was very pretty.

Prairie area. The sun was glaring a bit on the lens so the picture is a bit washed out.
More prairie land
Where it gets more colorful is a marshy swamp area. Of course Tommy waded into it up to his elbows (we called him out before he could go any further). I didn't have the camera on at that point and just got this picture from afar.
Few more next post.
