    petfinder.com wish list

We did this over on the Cat General board once, and now I'm itching to do it again - with doggies!!

If money, time, space, other pets, living arrangements, etc. were no object, who would be on your www.petfinder.com wish list? I don't know about anyone else, but I look at petfinder all the time, wishing I could adopt all the homeless babies out there...

LOOK at this guy. His story's so sad too. I wish I could go get him and bring him home RIGHT NOW!!

    Snowball - Poor Guy!

    Dog
    English Bulldog Mix

    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Male
    I.D: Snowball

Notes: Got the tissue? You will need one as you read Snowball's story. He was a cute little puppy when his former human adopted him. I am hoping that this person loved Snowball at one time. But as Snowball became an adult, his human had less interest in him. Eventually, Snowball was chained out side with little human contact. But that is not where it ends. This person decided Snowball needed to be across the street in an empty lot, chained to a tree. His surrounding including broken bottles, abandoned cars and trash. He had no shelter, fresh food or water. He was throw food on plastic plates, water was put in a big dirty bucket and if he knocked it over...TOO BAD. This lasted for a couple of years. How he survived is a miracle. Then one day an angel discovered Snowball. She began to feed him and give him fresh water. She bought him a dog house and gained his trust. After 7 months, she convinced this person to "sell" him. She bought Snowball and thus began his rescue. After all this, you would think Snowball would be a vicious mean spirited dog. NOT SO. He is so sweet. He loves kind human attention. He wags his tail and flips over on his back so you can rub his belly. This little guy knows he has been granted a wish and given an opportunity to find a loving kind human companion. You can help Snowball find a happy end to his "tail" If you are interested in meeting this terrific, brave little guy, contact Ann Cox at [email protected] or call 615 449-8005.

This is one of the dogs I want

    Border Collie
    Size: Medium
    Age: Young
    Sex: Female

Meet Echo – Born December 2003, to pure BC working parents, 2 of her other siblings also came to BCRNC. Echo is special, however. She was born bilaterally deaf. She was also the only dog in the litter with the white with a few freckles coloration. Her freckles will most likely darken with age. Echo has been spayed, and is current on her vaccinations. This girl is as sweet as can be and is low drive, but will require a very committed home. Because she is deaf a secure fenced yard is necessary. Training a deaf dog is not difficult, her foster mom would be happy to provide all kinds of resources and information, but keeping them safe from roaming is essential as they cannot hear danger approaching.

Echo looks to her handler often for instruction, is responsive and very intelligent. She is a bit submissive, but loves the companionship of other social dogs. Echo would do well in a home with another friendly dog or as a single dog with a guardian who is at home a good portion of the day. She is beautifully crate trained and will go to crate on command and fall immediately to sleep. Echo would not be happy left alone in a yard all day to fend for herself… she would just be too bored. Echo responds to any kind stranger who gives her the least bit of attention and she is loved by all who meet her. She travels well in the car and enjoys being bathed and groomed. Her favorite activities include giving neck nuzzles and being loved on.

Echo sits nicely and walks well on a loose leash, although she may struggle a bit if spooked, she is also housetrained. She enjoys toys and balls and the attention she gets during training sessions. Only those that can provide a consistent and calm environment should consider adopting Echo. Echo requires a bit of sunscreen on her nose before long outings in the sun, otherwise she is a low maintenance girl. Echo is still very much a pup and will need to be tethered to her new guardian for a few weeks as she learns the rules of the house, otherwise she may get into puppy trouble. She does not chew, but likes to turn over glasses of water left on coffee tables etc. She just requires an unhappy facial expression for correction when she attempts these things and a guardian who is aware and attentive to correct her. She is a marvelous dog for someone wanting a companion snoozing at their feet while they work on the computer.

Be prepared for loads of attention when out and about with Echo as she attracts friendly folk left and right. She is truly a loving and gentle girl who is good with children and cats she has been introduced to. Echo has real potential to be an awesome therapy dog. Because Echo cannot hear, she would do best in an adult only home.

    Ooo just found another one!

    Australian Shepherd,Border Collie Mix
    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Female

Notes: Melody is a 42# Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix (we think) who is about 4 years old. She was rescued by her current family about 3 years ago when she was found by a river, very thin and very desparate. She had been eating leaves, twigs and stones to survive. Melody gets along great with children, other dogs and cats and just LOVES to be cuddled and talked to. She's well-mannered and knows her sit, down, come, off and stay commands very well !! She loves going for long walks and car rides, running and playing and being inside or outside with her people. She would do best with a family that has lots of time to spend just loving her. She's spayed, microchipped and current on shots. Melody is only being given up because she stresses out at the sound of not one, but TWO screeching parrots. She needs a quieter home without loud piercing noises. Unfortunately Melody did test positive for heartworm disease and is cuurently undergoing treatment to correct that. Melody is a survivor, loves life, has a lot to offer the right family and is well worth the effort and expense to save her. A $150. TAX EXEMPT DONATION is required to adopt Melody.

Here's the baby I'd want if I lived in Cali that is....

    Robbie
    Dog
    Great Dane

    Size: Extra Large
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Male
    I.D: 3211

Notes: Hello there. My name is Robbie and I am a 5 y/o fawn male Great Dane. My ears are cropped but they don't stand. I am a 170lb boy and need lots of room to play and a really large bed (yours?) to sleep in. I have great house manners, although I am slow to warm up to men. But if you are patient, I can be a loving, loyal and protective family member. I have wonderful manners and get along with other dogs, cats and calm, well behaved children. If you have experience with Great Danes and would like to have your very own Scooby Doo, please contact my foster mom (909) 669-3037. Adoption fee includes spay, stomach tack, microchip, all vaccinations, hip x-ray, fecal and blood panel. Please be familiar with gastric torsion.

    Greta
    Dog
    Great Dane

    Size: Extra Large
    Age: Young
    Sex: Female
    I.D:

    Notes:

    Lady
    Dog
    Siberian Husky,Border Collie Mix

    Size: Medium
    Age: Young
    Sex: Female
    I.D:

Notes: You know she’s a cute little heartbreaker
Do you wanna take her home?
She can be yours, all yours
    Ooh, foxy Lady!

And who wouldn’t want to take this foxy Lady home? This bi-eyed beauty is approximately 2-3 years old and is looking for a new home to call all her own. Lady’s owner had to move out of state and couldn’t bring her girl along.

This energetic husky/border collie mix would love for someone to take her jogging or to the dog park. But afterwards this girl is ready to settle down in the living room and watch TV with you.

Lady is a very social dog and likes everybody. She’s curious about cats but doesn't want to hurt them. She just can't figure out why they run when she comes near. Lady can easily jump a 4 foot chain link fence, and would do best in a yard with a 6-8 foot fence. Lady would also be fine in an apartment provided her family will walk her or take her to the dog park every day.

At approximately 40 pounds, Lady is the perfect size for a small house or apartment. She is spayed, up to date on her shots, and on heartworm preventative. So once we have her microchipped, Lady will be ready for her forever home

    Kira
    Dog
    Chihuahua

    Size: Small
    Age: Senior
    Sex: Female
    I.D:

Notes: My name is Kira and although I may be hard to look at, I am still lovable. Believe it or not, I am a reddish/gold longhaired chihuahua. The folks here at the shelter thought that you should see how some people treat their pets. I have a skin condition that is noncontagious and hopefully treatable. The horrible people that I lived with before just threw me away after letting my condition get this far. After I have recovered, I would like to find a wonderful home where I can spend my golden years in. Love, Kira

    I want this boy

Tucker is a very handsomeBoxer who has arrived in rescue as a result of being seized from his owner for neglect. Tucker spent 8 months tied to the bumper of an old vehicle. Tucker is a very playful, happy boy, but he cowers when you raise or voice or approach him. Tucker has severe his dysplasia in his left hip and moderate dysplasia in his right hip. He will be undergoing corrective surgery on his left side within the next two weeks and then will have to undergo the surgery on his right hip after recovering from the left hip surgery. Tucker's surgery is going to cost over $1,000. If you would like to help us pay for Tucker to become a healthy boy, please send your donation to: MSBR; P. O. Box 11891; Charleston, WV 25339 or directly to Phillips Animal Hospital; 100 Virginia Street, East, Charleston, WV, 25301. If you would like to adopt Tucker once he is healthy and recovered, please complete an application for adoption at www.MSBoxerRescue.org. Please note that MSBR is located in Charleston, WV and we adopt only to approved homes in West Virginia.

    I like this guy also

Lenny is a handsome young all white (hearing) Boxer boy. He was a stray, so we know little of his background. So far, Lenny is doing excellent in his foster home. He was obviously kept as an indoor dog in the past. He is housetrained and not destructive. He gets along well with other dogs but he will harm cats, given the chance. Lenny seems great with kids. If you would like to make this handsome boy a new member of your family, please apply to adopt him today. NOTE: MSBR is located in Charleston, WV and we adopt only to approved residents of WV. To apply to adopt, please visit www.MSBoxerRescue.org and complete an application.

I could never have either though. Since they are not good with cats.

    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Male
    I.D: D 127043

Notes: Marley is a fun 7 year old dog who does not know his age! He loves to play and is quite people-oriented, especially for an Akita. Marley is housetrained, knows his basic commands, is very friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs as well! Come out and meet him!

    Simba
    Dog
    Shepherd,American Staffordshire Terrier Mix

    Size: Large
    Age: Young
    Sex: Male
    I.D: D 127524

Notes: Hi! My name is Simba. My owners moved and were not able to take me with them. The staff and volunteers tell me that I have a lot of personality! I know a lot of tricks like sit, sit up & beg, down and I love to catch treats in the air. I am a lot of fun! I am also housetrained and I get along well with other dogs. (I don't care for kitties though!) I have been with kids age 5 & up but will probably do best in a home with kids over 10 (just because of my size) I like to play but I also really like to be with people and I will snuggle right up against you for loving! Pleeze come out and meet me!!!!

Simba just breaks my heart. He's been there for the longest time and he's just such a sweetheart. I don't understand why.

    Tipsy
    Dog
    Pit Bull Terrier Mix

    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Female
    I.D: d 126036

Notes: I am a fun-loving gal who LIVES for belly rubs! My name is Tipsy and I was rescued from euthansia at another animal shelter. I recently spent time in a foster home and I was on my best behavior. I was quiet in my crate, I pottied outside and I loved to snuggle on the couch with my foster parents. I really like to play with toys and the volunteers tell me that I am going to make a real loyal pet. I do, however, need a home without other pets. (I have plenty of love to give!) I have been waiting for my new family since March - won't you come out and meet me?

Lute - I've read about that chihuahua before...so sad. I think she's in my area somewhere? Hopefully she gets adopted soon. And Lady is gorgeous.

    Sex: Male
    I.D: 3630

Our special need is that one of us has been blind from birth, and since we've always been together, we depend on each other. We are not able to be split up for adoption, and so if interested in adopting us, please come visit us in the Dog Room at the Boone County Animal Shelter in Burlington, KY!

    Simon
    Dog
    Great Dane

    Size: Extra Large
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Male
    I.D:

Notes: I was dumped at the Licking County animal shelter when my owner no longer wanted me. I had been a good boy and raised with a houseful of children. I was quickly sent to HHGDSBR to find my forever home. I was adopted from HHGDSBR in January 2004 and thought I had my forever home but then one evening it all ended. My family had a birthday party for their one son and it had been a hectic day. The kids were watching TV and I was sleeping on the couch. The next thing I knew I had bitten the one boy and well the rest is history. I am now back at the rescue looking for a new home. The rescue has decided it would be best that I be placed only with older children for my own safety
