Another kitty found in the past 3 days!

So like I said in another thread, I found a baby kitten at the recycle/dump site a few nights ago. Tonight I went outside to check on my parents dogs, they were throwing a fit, And I see a beautiful white kitten beside my house(across from the dog pen) so I go to calling and meowing to it, and I could tell so bad that it wanted to come. It kept screaming and running right up to my feet, and when I reached down to get it it would run. I went inside and got a can of cat food, and brought it out, and as soon as it got a whiff it came right to me and started eating. I waited until it finished (the whole time I was petting it) and it was acting not so afraid so I just picked it up, and to the garage we went. It is such a sweetheart, I just know someone dumped it. It already purrs, and will lay in my lap. I want it so bad but I know I can't keep her. She is about 12 weeks old, long white fur and yellowish eyes(female). But because I can not afford the vet bills (I just took my other found kitty to the vet yesterday and spent a fortune) I just can't do it again so soon. After I clean her up (advantage, bath, ear flush, nail trim and deworming) I just know someone will take her, shes too precious. But honestly all I can do for her is feed her and keep her warm and dry with a nice garage to sleep in until she finds a new home. Do you guys think I should put her in the newspaper, or do you have any other suggestions?(I can not keep her long because I am staying with my parents while my husband is in school and we already (my parents and I together) have 8 cats (not including the 2 new ones) 2 dogs, 2 fish, a bird and a bunny rabbit) and when my father finds out about ANOTHER find in 3 days he is gonna be less than thrilled. Please tell me if you think its wrong to list her in the newspaper without her shots( I will let the new owners know she needs to be tested and her vacs.) because I just can't take her to a shelter.

    Thank you so much Michelle!

Oh....so sad. But happy at the same time, because she stumbled across you to help her!

I don't know about putting her in the paper, but I would definately put signs in pet stores etc. Usually a rescue organization can help you with vaccs. and testing, if you foster her. But it sounds like you have quite a houseful already.

Maybe while you are trying the sign/paper ad route you could take her on weekends to a pet adoption place and perhaps she will find a home there.

I know the local pet rescue here does adoptions on Saturdays, so all the foster pets come back then and stay for the day hoping for a new home.

Best of luck and bless you for helping!

Any pictures of the little girl? She sounds pretty!

My experience is that shelters welcome kittens because they are "easy" to adopt (unfortunately, they may or may not be good screeners like asking about declawing, spay/nueter etc). The problem with newspapers is you are taking a risk at a bad home. People lie. We have a lot of dog fighters up here that take kittens and puppies to use to train their dogs to kill in the pen. Or there are just bad owners, "OH, we want a kitten!" With no idea what the responsibilities are. At least with a shelter, they have to pay a fairly good amount and get SOME education by someone who LOOKS official!! You know what I mean?

    thank you for your replies

I just wanted to say thank you for your replies. The only shelter that I know about is one that I worked for(there are only 2 no kill in fayetteville, and one of them is kinda "shady" on the no kill policy-if you know what I mean) Do you think maybe I should go around to local vets and post pictures of her? or do you think thats a bad idea also?
I will have pictures of her up asap - my new scanner just came in from fedex today, so as soon as I get my film deveoloped I will def. show you guys how beautiful and sweet she really is. THANX again

I'd post fliers at the local vet offices. Maybe the vet who took care of the previous rescues for you will let you post a flier there. Their reception people probably have names and phone numbers of rescue groups they work with.
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

I'd go with putting pictures of her & a sign at the local vets office. At least you can be assured that most people who go into vet's offices are authentic. Try Petfinder.com as well. There may be smaller rescues that you aren't aware of that put up pets for adoption there. She sounds like a sweet little girl. Glad you came to her aid.

I'd ask your vet if he'd help find her a home. Putting an ad in the paper attracts all kinds of unwanteds, including research laboratories and people looking for dog fighting bait.

Good luck with your search and please let us know how you make out.
