    Rock Hard Stool

Hi everyone. Maybe you can help me here. I'm taking care of AmberLee's furkids and today I noticed that one of them has rock hard stool. Is there something that I can give them to help prevent this? I tried to pm her but she's very busy and I don't know when she'll be able to check her messages. I don't even know if this is normal for her furkids or not. I do have a phone number but don't want to call and upset her if I don't have to. I sure would hate it if one of them became constipated or plugged up. I also sometimes see this with one of my cats too but it's not an everyday occurance.
Thanks for all of your help in advance.

I think I heard about pumpkin puree on this board for cases like that?

Or a little more wet food?

Olive oil? (My kitties would love to eat that).

Good luck for Cassy and Livvy

Pumpkin is used to "bind" the potty. I am not sure what if any effect it has on softening the potty.

I'm not sure what to do, either. There are cans of Fancy Feast in the kitchen sort of between the toaster oven and the dish drainer, above the dishwasher. There are also cans of pumpkin puree in the 'closet' across from the washer.

    Any improvement today?

Try some tuna water. Just open a can of tuna and drain the water into a bowl for kitties to drink.
Samantha gets constipated once in a while and if canned food(she likes it with gravy) or extra water doesn't help then try some tuna water.

Sounds like good ideas already. Has it only been this once? Then don't panic! It could also be from the "stress" of having someone around they're not used to. How many days have you looked after them?

Hope Cassy and Livvy will both be fine! Scritchies from me!

I've been watching them since Sat. and AmberLee called me tonight so we were able to talk about it. This evening when I went by things were much better in the litter box department. In fact one of the cats stools seemed a little runny this time.

AmberLee said that Cassy tends to get stressed out easily when his meowmie isn't there. He was friendly to me on Sat. but then hid under the bed on Sun. and Mon. He later came out and let me pet him this evening. I also noticed that they've been drinking more water today so this is a great sign too. I'm going to keep AmberLee posted about everything so she doesn't have to worry too much about her furkids. I also have their vets number just in case there is a problem.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone.

Any update? How are the kids?

I'll be home Sunday evening, but like I said on the phone I don't get much access to the i'net...

    AmberLee,
Cassy and Livvy are doing just fine. Last night their poops looked much better so the fancy feast must have helped. Since Livvy barely ate any of hers it must be Cassy that's having the problem. Hopefully he'll be much better when you get home. He just misses his mommy terribly. I'll talk to you on Sunday. Take care.

Canned pumpkin is what they vet told me to give Princess. 2 to 3 tablesspoons twice a day and then you adjust the amount as needed. It is good for constipation OR the runs. NOT the pumpkin pie filling but just plain pumpkin.
