Gigi is not feeling well again.

I came to discovered a VERY messy crate this morning: partially destroyed blankie (she likes to destroy stuff when she is not feeling well), puke and diahhrea (sp) all over her bedding and the bottom of the crate. She had bad tummy problem last month and since then I have been trying to be really careful in what I feed her. Lately I have gave her a bit more regular treats. Not sure whether that's part of the mess or it's just a "freak" thing. I am hoping it's a "freak" thing, cuz I, personally has a "freak" thing last nite as well. Anyway, I don't know what she has done to her nose as well. She got a raw spot on the bridge of her nose and it's pink. So now she is not feeling well, tired, smelly and has a raw spot.

Poor Gigi. I hope you will contact your vet and try to get some answers. I guess at a minimum, you should stick to her regular food, or even go to the rice and boiled meat diet for a couple of days. No treats!

Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Poor Gigi , Her nose is probably raw from trying to burry her mess so she could have a cleaner place to sleep, Jess did that when she was really sick. don'y give her any more treats for a while and see how she is.

Last year both dogs caught sometype of a virus
or something, and had full blown diahhrea for 3 days.
The vet put them on antibiotics and that did the trick.

I hope Gigi just has an upset tummy and it will pass
    in the next 24 hours.

Sending hugs to Gigi to get better.

Ok, we are back from the vet (an hour ago). The vet said this is the last time. If she does it again she will need xray and maybe more bloodwork. She said some doxie are chronic to throwing up (I think that's what she say, or diarrhea). Last time she had Sucralfate and this time she is have Metronidazole. She will also be taking Pepcid AC. Special Lowfat (why lowfat???) wet food for 3 to 4 days. Neospirin on her little nose twice a day. I really hope this time is a freak thing. I don't want her to suffer any more. Good thought for my little girl again!!!

Poor little Gigi. I pray that she returns to good health soon. Please keep us updated.

    Why low fat

High fat in the diet will contribute to diarrhea. So the immediate effect of lowering the fat content will help get the diarrhea under control.

The long term reason for doing so is maybe your Vet is starting to suspicion Pancreatitis. High fat in the diet aggrevates the Pancreatitis if present.

Another possibility is Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), where low fat, and high fiber can help.

Curiously enough Metronidazole has some beneficiary effect for both Pancreatitis and IBD. Sounds like your Vet has a good plan.
