MCM, I don't think numbers have anything to do with what qualifies any of us as "rescuers". In my mind, anyone who adopts even one shelter kitty is indeed a RESCUER!!!! You are doing a great job, just with the ones who you have already cared for ... there is no "magic number"!

MULTICATMOM, I agree that there are different "types" of rescuers. You can see it here on this board. There are those, like you say, like QSA who are actively involved in the physical rescue of many many kitties in need, and then there are those like Lacey who rescued cute little Mowgli - probably her one and only rescue since she is now at her "cat limit." Then there are those like Kim, Jen, Aly and Smokey the Elder and RoseTheCopyCat who take in and foster as many as they can, and those like K & L who are actively involved in TNR and those that volunteer at the shelters. And then there are those like you and Catmandu who take in and help as many as you can, and even those who adopt just one kitty from a shelter. You are all wonderful angels to the kitties in need and you shouldn't belittle your contribution. You do what you can, and that's all anybody can ask - don't you think?

VERY well said Kim and Debbie. I couldn't agree with you more.

I, like you, MCM, never considered myself a "rescuer" either just a lover of cats, taking care of strays on my street and being able to find homes for them.
But when I started coming to Pet Talk and was reading the stories of how people, rescued this cat and that cat and mamas and their litters, I thought, "Hey, I have done that in the past & present myself." I might not do it on a daily basis as some, but I do the best that I can. And you know what MCM? We ARE rescuers of these precious animals who deserve to know what love is.

So Bless you MCM for helping and doing all that you can to make this world a better place for all the kitties you have rescued.

MCM..We Are ALL making a big difference in our own ways! You are too..to take on four abandoned cats at once (correct me if I'm wrong) and provide a wonderful nurturing home for them, and more, is a plus for them! I'll admit things around here are maybe a bit more overwhelming than your area, but we can only do the best we can as cat lovers, and keep that in our hearts! We were put here for this ya know?? Huge groan eminating from this place LOL!

    Agreed.

Anybody who can show a cat compassion and love is helping.

Those who give donations to organizations are rescueing from afar, enabling others to do what they do.

Those who knit little blankets are doing something for the cause, to keep cats comfortable.

There are so many jobs to be done besides the actaul handling of the cats.

Thanks for any help you can give.

We are all a team, a team of people who choose to care.

EVEN ONE CAT RESCUED OFF THE STREET, OR FROM A KILL SHELTER, IS ONE LESS HEARTBREAK. IF MORE PEOPLE WOULD RESCUE *JUST ONE* AND ENSURE THAT IT IS ALTERED, THE OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM WOULD VANISH! (not in my lifetime. )
